This is well finished, sturdy quality and looks lovely but the drainage at the sides is just the small gap between the edge of the solid plastic base and the wooden frame surrounding. Food is getting soggy very quickly; on a newish estate with only young trees we are trying to encourage the birds we do have to stay and feed but, even only putting out small amounts at a time, it goes mouldy before the birds get to it.
I’d like to try drilling holes into the Perspex base but am afraid it will crack- could the manufacturers do this before sale?

Its great quality and looks lovely hanging from a little tree in the garden. We live in london and wanted to encourage some little birds to the garden. We bought the buggy nibbles too and within 2 weeks we have a pair of blue tit and a pair of robins that we never saw before visiting all day long. Its brought us so much joy and is just really nice to look at. easy to clean - Ive bought two more as gifts for the parents!

Good weight so it won't go baiging the tree trunk/branches even in a strong wind. Only the problem is that squirrels and wood pigeons eat quite a big share of the mixed seeds. But never mind, they also need some share.
