Lovely, light and compact for 8 x 32s
I bought these binoculars last year to take on holiday with me. Weight and size was important and my existing pair of bins are bit bulky, so I wanted something a bit lighter and more compact, but without losing the optical performance, which you often do with the 'compact' binoculars.

When compared to the other 8 x 32s in the RSPBs range the vistrons are really compact, and optically they are great. I was comparing them directly with a pair of compact Nikons (8x25 I think) and the Vistron's were significantly better. I think that the optical performance is very much a personal preference, but for me, I love my Vistrons, and now use them as my main pair of bins. (My boyfriend gets to use my older, bulky pair!)

    Good value binoculars
Purchased 16th January, so used for about 2 weeks. Good value for money, good weight, easy focus, bright image, Very good and prompt response from Viking about a query. Would recommend these for this price range.

    Well pleased
Whilst not the most expensive binoculars available I am more than satisfied with the quality. I was surprised with the clarity of both distant and close up vision. They are very easy to focus. Now that I have been out with them a few times I found them comfortable to carry not as heavy as I was expecting. If you don't want to splash a lot of money these are well worth a try.

    2 Faulty bins
My husband bought these for me when I retired, Just over 3 months later while on Orkney, one of the eyepieces fell apart. RSPB shop at Loch Lomond Shores replaced them. On inspecting my new pair at home I discovered the rubber was coming away from the casing in one place rendering them useless as far as waterproofing is concerned. I have no confidence at all in Viking now, their quality control is obviously non existent. Very disappointing to say the least! I am going to try RSPB's own brand & hopefully they'll be better.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review and sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your Viking Vistrons. It is very unusual that there are faults on these binoculars and can assure you that Viking does have rigorous quality control in place. They are currently investigating why this has happened. We are pleased you have decided on a pair of RSPB binoculars and hope that you enjoy them for many years to come.

    Great value
I bought these as a replacement for the much more expensive RSPB HD bins that were stolen while we were in Spain. Still sold here at 3 times the price of these Viking binoculars, I decided not to spend quite so much this time.

While not quite to the standard of the HDs they are nonetheless very good value. Nice bright image, very quick focussing (important to me) and light enough to be carried many miles without bother. The strap provided is good a quality neoprene type, which I find very comfortable. A soft bag and a surdier leatherette case is also provided.

    Excellent!
I haven't had binoculars before and was impressed by the range I was able to try out at the RSPB in Pulborough. These are perfect for me - lightweight and easy to focus. Excellent range and excellent value for money! Highly recommended!
