Not very inpressed at all, focusing very wooly at edges ,only centre of image really crisp .Have exchanged for Avocet which are much better and worth the extra money.RSPB Conwy very helpful.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with this product, however I am pleased that you found a pair of RSPB binoculars right for you and that the staff at the Conwy reserve were very helpful.

Brilliant start to my bird watching hobby
I visited the Carsington Water RSPB shop in Derbyshire to have a look at what they sold and I had a go with these binoculars along with some other pairs.
I had some help with them from one of the ladies that work at the shop and they were most helpful in determining which ones I should buy for what purpose.
They are good quality, heavy and very clear and easy to use, the only negative would be that the neck strap is uncomfortable to use because of the material but isn't a problem with a collar or jumper to hide my neck with, just would think it would be better considering the binoculars themselves are great! I wouldn't buy from anywhere else as they were great value and great quality.

RSPB Response: Thank you for your great review of our binoculars. It's lovely to hear how happy you are with the quality and ease of use, and also that our store assistant was able to assist you. We are currently reviewing our range of binocular straps for improvement; I will pass your feedback onto our supplier.

    Fantastic, amazing value, great product
Excellent product, top quality, great value, just as good as some I have tried costing £200 plus, would not hesitate recommending to youngsters or older bird spotters like myself.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, so pleased that you are enjoying the Puffins, they are an excellent product at a great price.

    Surpassed expectations.
For most of my birdwatching, I go along with the ""you get what you pay for"" and have kitted myself accordingly. I did though want a pair of bins I could leave in a easy to reach location in the car.
I tried several bins at the RSPB shop at Dungeness, and got to the ""I might as well try these"" phase. I was mazed at their lightness and above all the clarity they gave. They are an excellent low cost binocular with barely discernible difference to many bins of the £100+ category.

    2 year review
I've used these as my main binoculars for the last couple of years and haven't been disappointed. Many happy hours spent behind the lenses gazing out at a wide variety of birds.

These are bright, clear and stable. It's easy to find birds in the wide field of vision when you bring them up to your eyes. And they are relatively lightweight, at least for me. They never feel heavy or cumbersome while around your neck.

The strap could be better, and is beginning to fray. But other than that, these feel as good two years on as they did new. For less than £60, I've got an awful lot of enjoyment out of these. And many more years to come - I might get a bigger set but will keep these on me as 'all rounders'.

If, like me, you're new to birdwatching and binoculars, these won't let you down.

    Excellent image, good price
I tried these bins against the Avocet and another more expensive model at the Loch Garten centre. I genuinely couldn't tell the difference in optical quality between the Puffin and the Avocet. The Avocet has a 5 year guarantee and is fully waterproof, but almost double the price. As a first pair of binoculars, mainly for watching wildlife and birds in the garden and walking I went for the Puffins. So far they've been great, the image is sharp, bright and clear. The 8 x 42 giving a better field of vision and less shake. Well worth the money and very pleased with them.

    Just the job for us
These are great, we've been meaning to buy some Bins for the camper for ages and were away last weekend and wished we had some (to watch a Vulcan bomber fly past!). These are excellent quality, they have a really crisp image, sturdy item and a padded case. They are a bit heavier than I thought they would be, but that's because I didn't know what to expect (609g) so if you want to work it out beforehand weigh something else for comparison. Bought ours off the RSPB website because the profit goes back to them. All we need now is some instruction as to what birds we are looking at!

    Very happy
These are my first binoculars bought for birding and I am very happy with them. They offer a clear, easily adjustable focus and are portable and compact.
They are slightly heavier than I was expecting but this just reinforces the notion that they are durable and quality. The extras (case, cloth, caps etc are welcome, too)

I am now armed with these, and Simon Barnes 'bad birdwatcher' book, and the local Essex countryside is coming alive

    My 1st proper binoculars
I have recently been learning bird watching skills while carrying out volunteer surveys for my local National Park. To date i have been using my daughters bins which she got one xmas, so i desperately needed to upgrade to a new 'decent' pair. Unfortunately for the purposes of this review my daughters binoculars are all i have to compare against. That said however, I have found these binoculars to be really great. Superb clarity and they let in a lot of light. My purchase was largely driven by price but I really can't see what else a more expensive pair could offer? (maybe once i get more experienced this will become obvious?) They meet all my expectations of what I need them to do. Very portable as well, I now have them with me when out dog walking most of the time : )

    great value for money
I purchased these bins from the RSPB shop at Carsington Visitor Centre, Derbyshire. Very enthusiastic and friendly staff. The bins are good quality with some nice design features. E.g. the twist-open eyepiece cups, the lens caps are secured to the main bin body, so no more losing eye cups!, sturdy construction and fairly light. Good lens quality, very sharp images. Well worth the money!

    Excellent value -quality bins !
I purchased these as a second pair, backing up a more expensive pair (six times more) and have been amazed at the quality at this price.
They are really portable and just perfect for general use. You will need to go a long way to find better than these bins - highly recommended.

    Great quality binoculars
I bought these binoculars on the spur of the moment when on holiday and am very pleased I did. I had been toying with the idea of upgrading from binoculars I already owned as I wanted a smaller, lighter, more modern pair and these more than fit the bill. They clearly have good quality lenses, are easy to carry (and store) and come with a convenient carry case. I can't see why you would want to pay more unless you have a particular purpose for them. I should state that I did not and just wanted a good, general use, pair.

    Cracking Binoculars
Admitedly I have little experience of binoculars, so those who have take it easy on me, as my eyesight has in general served me well.
I have been looking at different brands and magnifications of binoculars to purchase, as my eyesight is not as good as it was when I was much younger, and I can tell you good advice is hard to come by and often confusing. So I decided to go for a pair of these Binoculars based on cheapness but from a decent Organisation and also a pair of 20x50 made by Praktica from another site.
I can tell you now these Binos hold their own big style against the 20x50s, much clearer and bizarrely brighter on 10 - 15M,
I haven't had a chance to compare on longer distances but for what I needed, to look at all nature whilst walking my dogs, I just wish I had realised how good these where.
On saying that I will try the higher Magnification for my other love, looking at the night sky, and see how that pans out.
I highly recommend these binoculars for general use and easy portabilty.
Thank you RSPB for an excellent product and excellent service,
if I ever need to upgrade my binoculars I will look no further than you.

    Handy size for out walking
I bought these so I could leave my large binoculars at home - for garden bird watching. I needed something lightweight to put in my pocket whilst out walking the dog in the countryside round my house. I am really pleased with these as they are clear and let in plenty of light. For the price they are excellent value for money.

    RSPB Puffin Binocular review.
I have been enjoying the study of nature and wildlife for over 20 years and have used many types and makes of binoculars. I have been given these as a gift and I have to say they really are top notch. The bins are light, compact and comfortable in the hand. They provide good clarity and bright viewing. I have used binoculars around the

Brilliant bins and an absolute bargain!
I treated myself to a pair of Puffin binoculars, because my husband always hogs the HDs when we're out for a walk. They're the perfect size for me and so lightweight and comfortable. The 32x image is bright and clear, they're sturdy and really feel like much more expensive binoculars. If you're looking for binoculars, but don't have a big budget, I couldn't recommend these highly enough.
