Product information

A tasty treat that birds find irresistible
Many species, especially robins and blackbirds, love these additive-free dried mealworms, which have all the goodness of live mealworms (beetle larvae) but not the moisture. Sprinkle some mealworms from this large 2kg pouch on the ground or bird table, or rehydrate by soaking in warm water for a few minutes.

Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy dried mealworms, though other species may also enjoy them too:

Type of bird
  • Blackbird
  • Robin
  • Song thrush
  • Starling
  • Wren

Starlings love them
We had a few starlings that would come and sit in a tree over the road from us, but would very rarely come to our well-stocked feeders. We ended up buying these mealworms to bulk up an order, put them out and the starlings came almost immediately. Several months later, they continue to devour the worms and we have gone from having 0 starlings to a regular flock of15 and a maximum count of 40!

The hedgehogs in my garden absolutely love these. Since putting them out at night I have seen at least one hedgehog every night, and on occasions up to 4, but not at the same time. I recommend this food for you to encourage these lovely animals, and will help your slug problem too!
RSPB response
Thank you for supporting your local hedgehogs! Please be aware, mealworms should only be fed to hedgehogs as a rare treat, since these contain high levels of phosphorous, which can be harmful to them. We advise buying a hedgehog food such as Brambles.
