Siting advice

Swallows are cave nesters, so it’s best to site a swallow nest cup high inside an external building or in a substantial porch with permanent access to the outside to allow feeding visits. It is important that the nest is situated high enough for the birds to launch and fly away comfortably.

Delighted !
We bought this swallow nest because the tractor shed that swallows had been nesting in for years had to be rebuilt, so we hoped and prayed that the swallows would return and use the new nest in the new building. Well today we notice the swallows are back and are indeed using the new RSPB nest. Absolutely delighted 😊😊

ok but slightly chipped
Arrived in good time. Unfortunately, the bowl of the nest is slightly chipped which surely would be noticeable to a quality control inspection. On this occasion, I don't think the chip will materially affect the viability of the nest for swallows - their interior design requirements are surely well met by this nest, but as this is intended as a gift it is disappointing. Am keen to support RSPB so won't be asking for a replacement.

Great little nest
We bought this nest as the old one built by the swallows had fallen down and the poor things were looking for it. We installed the new nest close to where the original nest had been and within a day the swallows had taken to it. We now have four little hatchlings in the nest.
