Product description

Outwit the squirrels! An adjustable, weight-activated mechanism inside this ingenious high-quality feeder instantly closes the feeding ports when 'someone' too heavy arrives.

It's brilliantly made, flexible (set it to favour smaller birds if you wish) and easy to dismantle and clean. It holds a generous 750ml of shelled peanuts, and the longer base area allows woodpeckers to grip and join the feast. Also suitable for suet nibbles.

To ensure the weight mechanism of this feeder can work as designed, please make sure it is positioned at least 46cm away from any other feeder or point where a squirrel could cling to and reach across from. Ideally, site the feeder at least 2m away from trees, shrubs and other cover that cats may use to pounce from.

  • Measures 49cm tall.
  • Holds 750ml of shelled peanuts.
  • Lifetime guarantee.
  • Easy to dismantle and clean.

woodpeckers love it the squirrels and jackdaw are problem solving it
The wood peckers love it and we had two families fighting over it. We did have to adjust the spring so the wood peckers are just light enough now and the baby squirrels can't get at it. The two issues we had is that we had to replace the plastic bolt and screw at the bottom with metal ones as the plastic broke and the jackdaws although since the adjusting are now too heavy. One worked out how to grab on in just the right way to not set the spring off and then start teaching some of the others. So that was interesting to watch to start with but did result in having to take the feed down over the summer to get the jackdaws to move on. It back up now and at least one woodpecker is back already.

Pricey but good
I bought this with some trepidation at the price in case it didn't work, but within a couple of days the great spotted woodpeckers and the blue tits and great tits had got the hang of it. Careful placement meant that the squirrels have not yet worked out how to get the peanuts. I am sure they will eventually but in the meantime they have taken themselves elsewhere.
