Lovely glazed ceramic bird bath with the first stanza of William Blake's poem 'Auguries of Innocence' inscribed around the edge.
'To see a world in a grain of sand, And heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour.'

High-fired, frost resistant, durable and sturdy, it's wonderfully ornamental, but totally functional. The attractive rippled, graduated depth makes it safe for birds and a pretty addition to your garden.
    Supplied with matching ceramic feet.

Matching pedestal stand (R402645) also available.

While this bird bath is frost resistant, it is not frost proof. It may be worth protecting it from severe icing conditions and repeated cycles of freezing and defrosting, as all glazed ceramics can eventually suffer water penetration and subsequent frost damage

Birds need water for drinking and bathing. Water is particularly important during the winter when natural supplies may be frozen, and in dry, hot weather during the summer when water can be hard to find.

Keeping your bird bath clean will help keep your birds healthy, happy and coming back for more.

    No problems
I have had this birdbath for some years, and so don't know whether the ones causing complaint come from another batch with different materials. It has survived harsh winters, iced up and has never cracked. The birds use it regularly. It cleans easily and have never had problems. It stands on top of an old chimney pot and have always been pleased with it.

RSPB response: Thank you for your great review. It is good to hear how pleased you are with this bird bath and how well it has lasted for you!

    Don't Buy
Very disappointing poor quality, words are not clearly stamped. Arrived with a chip on the rim. Very expensive but doesn't look it. I kept it as was a gift Aug 17. Did not want to upset the giver, wished had returned it now. I want to support rspb but if this is the quality I would think twice.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am extremely sorry to hear of the quality issues of the bird bath you received as a gift. We were made aware of issues with the mold for this bath which we are currently trying to resolve with our supplier. Unfortunately I do not have your details to contact you directly, however if you contact customer services we will be happy to either provide you with a replacement or an alternative bird bath.

    very disappointed
I'm afraid I have to echo Derik's review from May 2016. The quality is very poor, the colour of the clay and glaze does not look at all like the photo in the catalogue, the rim is chipped and there is a big 'drag' mark in the glaze. I bought this as a Christmas present but I will have to look for something else as this is being returned. Thank goodness I checked it before I gave it to the intended recipient. Blake's words around the rim can barely be read.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, very sorry to hear that this product did not meet your expectations. This product did not reach you as it should have, it was damaged and not of the high quality it usually is. This had been feedback to the supplier and will be looked into.

    Beautiful durable product
I bought this bird bath some five or six years ago & I absolutely love it. Not only does it look great, the birds love it & it has withstood all that our weather has thrown at it over that time without a blemish. I would highly recommend this beautiful birdbath.

    Very disappointed!
We looked at all the bird baths in the RSPB catalogue and this looked by far the best aesthetically. We liked the fact that its ceramic rather than resin, and loved the Blake inscription around the rim - and its just been delivered.

What a disappontment! The quality is appalling. The mould from which it is produced is obviously worn out as the inscription is practically unreadable, and there are moulding faults on the rim where clay has been added by hand to build up the poor moulding. The glaze is applied very roughly and around the rim there are sections of glaze missing around the edge. The ring on the underside has been glued on apparently by a five-year old - there's dried glue everywhere. My wife, who used to work in the ceramics industry says it wouldn't even qualify as a 'second'. It's going back less than an hour after it arrived.

RSPB RESPONSE: We are sorry to hear about this. We will raise this with our supplier, and as always we will refund or replace any faulty items.

    A sloping bath!!
Bought this as a replacement for one damaged during building work. The birds loved it. it sat neatly on top of the matching pedestal stand and provided excellent entertainment for humans and a good source of drinking and bathing water for the birds.
The replacement however isn't up to scratch. The ring that sits on the bottom of the bath and fits into the top of the pedestal isn't in the centre of the bath. It's not even close!
As a result it can't be filled more that halfway or it overflows and quite frankly, it looks ridiculous on the pedestal.
if RSPB are going to charge premium prices then the least the customer should expect is a bit of quality control.
This one will be accompanying me to my nearest RSPB shop on my next visit. You can have it back!

RSPB Response: Thank you for your review. This is clearly a manufacturing error and we will be happy to replace it.

    Beautiful and practical.
Having bought this a few years ago, the echoes ceramic birdbath is both a beautiful product which has managed to survive winter frosts (sitting on feet on lawn) and is popular with our garden visitors - birds, squirrel and hedgehog. A large pigeon has a daily bath/soak and drink so it does need refilling afterwards. One of the blackbirds drinks and bathes in our small pond and follows with a splash in the bird bath so duckweed etc needs washing out. I tend to refill daily. Shallow enough for small birds too.

Did the job whilst it survived
I bought this shallow bird bath over 3 years ago in a vain attempt to get some small birds into our garden. It never succeeded in that respect, but it stood on the stand quite happily, looking attractive, for 3 years. The only birds we had in the garden were magpies, pigeons and crows. The pigeons loved it, but they would keep tipping the bath off the stand as they were too heavy for it. This eventually resulted in the bath cracking. I also experienced the same thing as SusanHGuis - the water did seem to diminish as I was filling it up. The bath finally met its bitter end today when my husband caught the lawnmower cord around it and pulled it off onto the patio.
    In summary:
    It is very attractive
It is relatively fragile although the frost never affected either the bath or stand. However we did not have very hard, prolonged frosts during the time we owned it
During periods of hot sun, the water will evaporate in a day, so you need to refill it regularly
Both my parents and I own different styles of resin bird baths which turn the water a browny/red colour very quickly. This did not occur with the Echoes bird bath
It was far lighter and easier to move than our resin baths

    So pretty!
I love this, i bought it purely because it is so pretty and I had just the spot in the garden for it - it is quite shallow and attracts sparrows and smaller birds whereas the bigger birds especially pigeons still prefer my bigger rusty old birdbath on a stand.
Labels came off just fine and it sits nicely on it's 3 legs so no issues there.
I do hope it won't crack as it has not yet stood the test of winter.

RSPB response - Thanks for your review. While this bird bath is frost resistant, it is not frost proof. It may be worth protecting it from severe icing conditions and repeated cycles of freezing and defrosting, as all glazed ceramics can eventually suffer water penetration and subsequent frost damage.

    Not Frost Free
My daughter bought the bird bath for Father's day 2012 along with the pedestal stand. It is very attractive but no birds have used it yet!!

We had to silicone the bowl to the pedestal to ensure it did not fall off.

The negative side it is not Frost Resistant as outlined. The bowl cracked due to frost.

The positive was the good customer service a replacement was sent this January 2013. Thank you.

What is a shame is that I will now keep the bird bath inside over the winter months and replace it with a resin one. If we had known we would not have purchased this bird bath and stand and bought a resin one instead as it was expensive.

I hope the birds come to it this year, if not then I will fill it with bird seed.

    Attractive and well used
Love the style of this and the birds seem to love it too. Sadly I managed to break it removing the ice (my fault) so will replace as I like it so much!

    Birdbath, very good
Excellent appearance, looks really good and the birds really use it - especially a certain blackbird. But the water appears to diminish when I fill it. Might be an optical illusion but strange, I really would like another.

    Sadly unwanted (Buy Resin)
The Birds do not use this whilst they loved a rusty old metal Bath which we still where looking to throw away...
The Stickers where in the wrong place and tough to remove (Took months).
If you have Limescale in your water - do NOT buy this - iunless you wnat to use Vinegar on large scale to combat the Limescale build up.

BUT the biggest drawback - apart from the cost and the lack of a decent stand is that the BIRDS have not ever used this Birdbath but have used three other cheaper ones.

The Resin Birdbath (Also avaliable with RSPB) is far superior and far less costly and relatively as pleasing on the eye - AND the bonus is that because it is far less heavy and fragile the Resin Bath is much easier to clean...

    Perfect for small birds
I was given this bath as a gift having already got a bird bath in the garden and only put it out to be polite. I'm now very glad I did.

I don't know if it's to do with where I positioned it (on a small garden table) or it's size, but I've noticed it has become very popular with the smaller birds that visit my garden. I've watched blackbirds & robins having a good old rinse on a daily basis.

On that basis I'd certainly recommend it to others.

    Looks nice but.....
The bird bath looks nice in the garden, but why does it arrive with large sticky labels on which are a complete pain to remove? It took about an hour with lots of soaking in hot water and scrubbing to remove two labels.

beautiful to look at ---But ---
I was thrilled to find this bath as I think it is really beautiful. BUT the birds don't seem to like it. They much prefer the other bath we bought which is a large, shallow, concrete shell which we bought in a garden centre. For some reason the birds prefer that although I love the beautiful ceramic bath I bought from the RSPB.

It is attractive, but a little shallower than I was expecting, but all the same it looks very pleasant on the eye when looking at the garden.
