Rain Away - Bird feeder rain guard

At a cost of £17.93 for two (£6.99 each) including postage, this purchase was not value for money. I could have made them myself out of lids. AT the time of purchase at that price I expected to buy the feeders as well. My mistake there. But I will not be purchasing again from RSPB as definately overpriced. Disappointing.

This rain-away has not worked with any of the birds who use my feeder.- it stopped them feeding there altogether. I wanted it for a larger feeder which has 2 sets of feeding ports (so 4 ports in total). I keep top 2 pots dry with a hanging plastic dome type squirrel baffle, but with this longer feeder the lowest 2 ports get soaked in rain. There is enough space to fix rain-away between the 2 sets of ports but it has stopped birds using this feeder altogether. There is adequate head room but they refuse to use feeder!

This is excellent, I got a feeder, seed tray, and rain cover in one deliver to use as a set. This new feeder with tray is significantly more popular than the old feeder we had as there is just so much more room for the birds to perch. I’ve adjusted the rain cover height to prevent pigeon raiding, the pigeons are so clever they came up with a way of balancing sideways on the feeder tray with their body resting against the feeder, one wing sticking up around the rain away and one wing sticking horizontally out. Pulling the rain away down about a centimetre means they can’t fit their body in the gap and contort their wing around it any more. I’m thinking of getting a nut feeder with one of these so I hope the diameter of the feeder is the same.
