    Excellent
A very good feeder. Not top quality, but it wouldn't be at this price, and we've had it for about 2 years with no signs of wear or damage. Goldfinches and other small birds love it, and it keeps out pigeons, crows, jackdaws etc. It also very easy to clean.

    MY FAVOURITE BIRD FEEDER
I have now had this bird feeder for just 14 days at first very disappointed but persevered and now i cannot believe it the birds seem to love feeding from it
I will only give it 4 stars because the base needs redesigning to allow a better perch as it does apear to be difficult for the bird feed

    BIRD FEEDER
I purchased this feeder so the small birds could feed separately
It as now been out on my bird table for 3 days & I haven't seen 1 bird on it
My other old type feeders on the same table I fill daily
I can only think it must be design fault as the birds are unable to perch on the base
    RSPB response
Thank you for your review. We advise to persevere with your feeder as birds are very cautious creatures and can take weeks, sometimes months, to try out new things.

    Dreadful feeder
I bought this for small birds but they refuse to use it, absolutely dreadful and complete waste of money. Added you cannot hand it on a feeder tree without spilling feed everywhere
    RSPB response
Thank you for your review. We advise to persevere as birds take some time to get used to new feeders!

    Different to original design
The design has changed. We used to have goldfinches flocking to our bird feeder to feed from the old design but they are having difficulty getting to the seeds with this one. Think it is because the casing holding the seed is so close to the tray that they can't fly in and grab the edge of the tray without knocking their heads. The only birds that seem to be able to use this now is blue tits. Disappointed with this buy and will not buy another one if the same design is used.

Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with this feeder. We will discuss your points regarding the design change with our suppliers and see if any improvements can be made.

    Starlings love it !!
I bought this as it was advertised as a deterrent to starlings as it's difficult for them to perch on - well I've had this feeder hanging from my feeding station for 15 minutes and the starlings are flocking to it, happily grabbing on and eating. I am so disappointed in this product!! Don't waste your money on this... Unless you are happy to feed the starlings.

Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with this product. It has been designed so larger birds find it harder to cling on. We will speak to our supplier regarding your comments.

Felt good quality, purchased ready for bird watch weekend
Absolutely disappointed with this product. Not one bird on it in two weeks. Been out bought anew cheep feeder today and birds have flocked to it. Total waste of money . AVOID AT ALL COST.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry you are unhappy with this feeder. This feeder is a unique design so may take birds some time to feel comfortable using it. It is likely if you have bought cheaper feeders that are the same design as your previous feeders your birds will feel safer using these straight away rather than the my favourites feeder.

    Not squirrel proof
We found it took a few weeks for blue tits to use this feeder with confidence. However, the squirrels have managed to eat away at half of the plastic in order to get to the feed!
With this mind i would not purchase this item again.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, please not this is not a squirrel proof feeder. This feeder is designed to deter larger birds that don't like to cling on.

    Useless!
I bought this feeder about two weeks ago and I haven't seen a single bird using it, they prefer the conventional feeders. I think they have trouble landing on the tray as it needs to be larger in diameter. I am going to drill three 5mm holes in the tray and silicone furniture dowels in the holes to make it easier for the birds to land and have something to grip to. Initially I had an awful job getting the ild off so I put some olive hole on the fastening lugs and worked the lid on and off about a dozen times which then made the lid easier to remove and fit.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry you are unhappy with this product. We advise that it can take birds some time to visit new feeders, as they are very cautious creatures. This can sometimes be a couple of months.

    Excellent
I brought this feeder while on holiday in Wales, as thought it'd solve the problem I have. I love feeding the little birds, but the pigeons have learnt how to feed from all of the other feeders I have, and this looked like it may solve that problem. I don't mind the pigeons eating whatever the little birds drop, but don't want to actually feed them, at 1 point I had 30/40 pigeons in my garden, so I had to stop putting feed out.
It works so well, that I'm about to order another one from the website. So far I've had no problems with water leaking in to the top.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear how this feeder has helped you with your pigeon problem and that you have had no issues with leakage!

    Useless
Very disappointed to find that RSPB sells a feeder which lets in water at the top around the hook, which makes all the food clog together and stops it flowing, the birds do not feed from it.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we are very sorry to hear about this problem with the feeder. The top of the feeder should not leak at all, we will contact our supplier about this matter but in the meantime please contact customer services for an exchange or refund.

    Disappointing
I bought this feeder at the Darts Farm shop, some small birds started using it after 3-4 months, most of the others prefer the conventional feeders, after a while I realised that water seeps through the plastic hook at the top and all the sunflower hearts get clogged and stop going through the holes,
I was going to take it back but unfortunately I dropped it and the plastic hanging hook broke so I can't return it.
I also found the refilling not easy, I have arthritis in my hands and the top is not easy to twist on and off.

All in all I would not recommend this product as in my view it is a waste of money.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with this feeder. I will pass your comments regarding the top being difficult to twist off and the water seeping through onto our supplier to see if improvements can be made.

    Starlings love it
Bought this to give the smaller birds a chance as our feeders quite quickly get dominated by starlings. It worked for a couple of days but once the starlings had chance to devise a new strategy they have no problems using it. 3 are quite happily hanging off it as I type. Back to the drawing board!

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, the Favourties Feeder should give the smaller birds a better chance of feeding as it is harder for birds like starlings to hold on to the feeder. However as you have identified determined Starlings can use the feeder it is just uncomfortable for them to do so. It can help to have an alternate source for the Starlings which requires little effort for them to feed. They are less likely to bother with the effort of the Favourties Feeder if an easier supply is to hand.

    A bit disappointing
I bought this feeder so that the sparrows could feed while the starlings were dominating the other feeders. Sadly , the sparrows ignore it and the starlings guzzle from it!

    Great for some small birds
    I feel guilty!
I was using an aging seed feeder with big perches around the tray but doves and pigeons scoff everything and swing around as they hold on, which also scatters the seen everywhere.
So I swapped to this feeder a couple of days ago. It is great for blue tits, great tits, coal tits and goldfinch, though some look as comfortable as the birds in the product description photo and some are clinging rather more desperately, curled around underneath. It is well made and smart. I suspect it might be a little awkward to take the top off to refill with cold hands (it is quite wide to get a good turning grip). I just watched a grey squirrel fail to feed from it.
The thing I feel guilty about, is that the greenfinch and chaffinch hover in frustration. Some sometimes manage to grab a seed. I hadn't intended to exclude them so I'll have to put the old feeder back up to cater for these.

Very flimsy brackets to hold the bottom part up and fell off sfter only using it twice
I am disappointed with th performance of this article and shall not order it again, not worth the money I paid for it

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we're sorry you had problems with this feeder, this should not happen and didn't during testing. We have not heard this happening with any others so it does sound like you received a faulty product for which we apologise.
