RSPB > Bird food > Bird seed

Attract several species of wild bird to your bird table or ground feeding area all year round - especially those that can't use feeders. RSPB Table bird seed mix contains black and striped sunflower seeds, sunflower hearts, husk-free oats, kibbled maize and wheat and it's especially appealing to robins, finches, house sparrows and blackbirds. Also widely enjoyed by birds capable of using feeders.

Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy this food, though other species may also enjoy it too:

    very good product
I sometimes try other bird seed but always go back to this one. It is the best I have used and all the birds seem to like it.

    Carpet of tiny seeds...
This is very very popular with smaller birds in my garden but they leave the smallest seeds which I can't identify as a carpet below the feeder. Everything else goes quickly but there's a layer of the very tiny seeds on the ground below the feeder. It's not the oats or the wheat and I'm not sure which ones they are, the tiny, shiny yellowish round seeds perhaps 2-3mm across.

    Great All Rounder
I use this in my bird feeders with a screw-on bottom 'shelf' - so have a feeder and table in one :) it runs well through the feeder and is very popular with lots of birds and I have to refill almost daily (and I'm using the super-sized feeder with 6 perches) it attracts all the usual birds and even the doves, pigeons and jackdaws can use it.

I have a smaller feeder for smaller birds without a screw-on attachment in which I also use this seed mix.

Anyway it is a delight to see all perches occupied and 2 or 3 in the bottom bit as well - up to 10 birds at one go - a very popular seed - sometimes the millet is left but not for long. The birds will go for this in preference to peanuts.

    Excellent
My garden birds love this food on table or in feeders especially chaffinches and it has attracted sparrows as well. Brilliant!

    Wot a waste!
The birds visiting my garden do not like this seed mix. The larger seeds are eaten straight away but the smaller seeds which constitute over half are left and are only eaten as a last resort by collared doves and wood pigeons. I still have over 6kg of the seed left ...sigh.

    Transforms Your Feeders
Before I took up using this feed, I noticed our cheaper bird seed had a bit of a compatibility problem with our feeders - whilst the birds were pecking away, much of the feed simply crumbled out onto the ground like sawdust.
But now I've noticed how densely the seeds sit inside our feeder and don't just rain out when our birds feed. It still DOES fall from its confines occasionally, and that's where it gets even better - our visiting woodpigeons and collared doves love it!
There's plenty for everyone and I've probably got enough of it now to last the year! Thank you RSPB!

This product is adored by all the birds that visit my garden, fantastic value too!
Great product, unfortunately the squirrels find it irrisistible also! But as it's such good value, I shall continue to purchase it. All traces of this seed have gone by the time I get up in the morning and my feathered friends eagerly await their "breakfast". Highly recommended.

    Yummy Yummy
This food is popular with my nesting sparrows which have not come often in the garden untill i put out this food.
the greenfinches have an occasional peck too.
Any that drops to the floor is soon eaten by the blackbirds, doves and pigeons.
so thank you from the birds here in jersey (and from me )

    Great for House Sparrows
Very popular with my local birds. Table Mix is eaten quickly in hanging feeders, on a table and on the ground. I have three 4-port hanging feeders to keep up with demand from my local house sparrows and a restricted-height table (using two round feeders close together on the pole, top one upside down) to allow sparrows, tits and robins to feed. Messy eaters that the sparrows are, blackbirds, chaffinches and pigeons (and reed buntings in late winter) clear up underneath the feeder pole. The leftover seeds are tipped onto a nearby slab when topping up, and this is also quickly cleared up. And nothing sprouts under the feeders either! This mix is not attractive to finches but I prefer to support the sparrows.

    popular with my birds
Birds start singing when see me and are keen on it. When I first used they would leave canary seed till rest gone. In cold weather it was tough and I had to make sure they had unfrozen water . But they still singing and I order some more.

Not that popular with my birds
Birds in my area seem to fight over peck and mix and the suet balls which go within a few hours of me putting it on the bird table, however with this table mix its been sitting there for days untouched.
I have tried mixing it with the popular peck and mix and suit balls and the birds just eat round it.

    Disappointed - contains canary seed
Sorry RSPB - I was disappointed with this mix. I'd checked the description of the product before purchasing to make sure it didn't include canary seed as I know the birds in my area won't eat it. As the description didn't mention canary seed I bought a big bag with the recent discount offer only to find when it arrived that it does in fact contain the dreaded canary seed. I'm still putting it out for the birds but it seem their tastes haven't changed and they're picking everything out and just leaving this seed behind. Usually my local feathered friends can't get enough of RSPB foods but they have turned their beaks up at one!

    Table Mix
I can honestly say that this mix is the most well-liked table and feeder mix that I've ever used. It is loved by every bird that visits our garden and we have the whole range of common birds. It is true that jackdaws, crows, wood pigeons, feral pigeons and magpies do scoff a lot of the mix but they do most of the clearing up of spilt and dropped seeds so none at all is wasted. And I like these 'scavengers' as much as any other bird. The only bird that didn't try the mix was a lapwing, an unusual visitor to our garden. So I would recommend this mix to anyone who has our bird's well-being at heart. I'm just going to order another two 12.7kg bags. I just wish it was still on special offer!

    Bird table feast.
I put table mix on my bird table every day and all birds seem to love it. The birds i have seen eating it are House Sparrows, Jackdaws, Collared Doves, Wood Pigeons, Greenfinches, Chaffinches, Blue tits, Great tits. There never seems to be much waste as most of the seed gets eaten. This is a great product , highy recommended.

    Fast Food Feast
Have used this table mix for a year now and it continues to prove hugely popular with house sparrows, blackbirds, bluetits, robins, starlings and pigeons, as well as other occasional visitors to my garden. In dry weather the food usually disappears very quickly, a bit slower in bad weather but they generally hoover it all up in the end.

    FOOD, GLORIOUS, FOOD!!!!
This mix of food has attracted birds from Bluetits, Great tits, Chaffinches, to Magpies and crows. As other reviews have said the food dosen't dissappear in one fowl swoop!! But if left down dunnocks and groud feeding birds will clear away any overspill off the tables, and any small seeds left on the table can be scattered on the ground if the table has to be refilled, so leaving the groundfeeders equally fresh feed.

    If nothing else is available
I think we have fussy birds! Usually any food I put out for the birds is gone very quickly but since using this feed, there has been a lot of wastage and the birds will leave it and go for other foods that are out (buggy nibbles and sunflower hearts) or just not have anything at all. If there is no other food out, they will peck at this mix however there are nowhere near as many birds feeding from it and, in all honesty, they seem to prefer not to have anything! So, I will probably stick to buggy nibbles, mealworms and sunflower hearts as these go down a lot better than this mix.
