Product description
Fill this suet feeder guardian with up to 10 of our suet balls, hang it up and rest assured that the small birds will get the best deal. We've designed our suet guardian to provide excellent protection, both top and bottom, for little birds while feeding. Deters most adult squirrels and some large birds.
- Measures 30cm tall and 24cm diameter.
Don't forget to clean feeders regularly! We've designed them for easy-cleaning.
Squirrels are clever and determined creatures. To reduce the risk of them reaching and attacking feeders and guardians, try to locate the feeder at least 2 metres away from any potential jumping off point such as a tree trunk, fence, post or wall, and consider using a baffle with the feeder.
Please note that when young and juvenile squirrels are around in late summer, they may be able to squeeze through the gaps. While this guardian will make feeding more difficult for all large birds, smaller corvids such as magpies and jackdaws may be able to squeeze their heads through.

The squirrels have not found any way to get to the suet in this feeder (although we only put in one log at a time, maybe that helps?). Having replaced all feeders with a variety of squirrel resistent models, we now have no squirrels or pidgeons on any of our feeders. In summer sometimes juvenile crows have a good feed from this, but they don't eat it all and I don't begrudge them too much.
Last summer we had bluetits nesting in our willow tree, and they successfully fledged 6 young. They were at this feeder all summer, so I attribute their success in no small part to the abundance of easily accessible calories this feeder provided.

This was an attempt to continue to allow the smaller birds to get a chance to get on the feeders.
It does not work the holes are literally just big enough for the parakeets to get their heads inside if they stretch really far and 4 or 5 of them will sit on it and eat all the fat balls.
Not suitable if you have parakeets, will not stop squirrels either they can also get inside it easily.
