A host of image-enhancing technology is contained in a stylish, compact body with shock-resistant rubber armour, and thumb-holds for comfort and grip. Super High Reflective dielectric coated prisms allow for a bright, crystal-clear image. Phase correction and the ED glass will work together to all but eliminate colour fringing.

Harrier 10x42
I've had a number of 'reasonable' bin's over the years, for less than £100. Switching to these, though, was like switching the light on. As I expect to use them a lot, it's well worth the moderate step up in price. I tried them against some 12x50's I got 10 years ago, for amateur astronomy - and these were much better, and lighter, and less bulky. The others have gone to the charity shop.
There are only two rather minor gripes to mention. The rubber objective lens caps don't grip well and can fall off and get lost. And the neck strap is too short. It's about the same as the case strap. It would be good to have at least one of these longer.
But overall, I'm highly satisfied.

Good or even better
Not used these much yet. My initial thought was they were heavy.. but identical to cheaper (not cheap) lower powered ones I got in an emergency (ie Hobson's choice) a few years back - but so much brighter! And they work really smoothly. Not yet quite sure if the 10x42 were the right choice for me as I notice the shake more but the view is genuinely beautiful. They came with caps for all lenses - it's a shame I didn't know - and crucially as screw point for a tripod fixing. Why is this not stated in the blurb? A real advantage and I'd have saved some time trying to decide and would have opted for these ones sooner, My scores are a bit provisional - and without real comparison with others of the same ££ bracket - but I am genuinely pleased. Why did I wait so long?
