Still going strong after 10 years! My good old cat watch cat deterrent recently gave up the ghost after 10 years so I called the UK manufacturer to buy a new one. They kindly offered to look at my old unit to see if they could repair it which they duly did for a small charge of £12.50. I now have my original unit back which is working perfectly. A great example of good old fashioned customer service from a UK company. Many thanks. By Bird feeder, on 25 Aug 2016
PS:sorry failed to mention we also have 2 resident hedgehog's in our garden, they have been here for the last 2 and a half years, since the introduction of this alarm, nothing has changed, they are still there at 11pm when I go out for a cigg, By Jonathan, on 21 Aug 2016
Upset i didnt buy this in the first place!!As the title says, upset that I’ve spent nearing £120 on 4 different alarms, none of which really have held a candle to this one, I have now brought another one of these for my mother it’s that good,
Background: We have a veg patch, and there are 5 cats within the surrounding area, we don’t have a cat so our garden is neutral territory, and what with the soft soil for the veg, it’s fair to say the veg patch has been a toilet over the past year and a bit!!
I’ve Brought 3 cat deterrents, and even heron/cat deterrent, all failed miserably,
not only did they A: not scare the cats off! B: run out of battery within a month or so BUT C: I could constantly hear the dam alarms.
Sick of this I spent little more money than the 30 odd quid, and frankly wish I’d done so from the start. NO CATS, watch them jump, it’s been so successful that now I can actually move it to other areas and the cats still won’t go into the veg patch!!
I have no idea how this product has any poor reviews as from my experience it is frankly superb! and im yet to actually plug it in the the mains!
if your looking for a cat alarm that just works, last on batt for near 3 months then quite honesty just buy it. it really is that good.

Catwatch cat deterrent
- Product information
The only cat deterrent tested and approved by the RSPB.
CATWatch, the UK's leading cat deterrent manufactured in the UK, has successfully completed a two-year scientific trial conducted by the RSPB to determine its deterrent effect on cats in residential gardens. The results are published in the Applied Animal Behaviour Science Journal after peer review.
The research concluded that CATWatch reduces cat intrusions into gardens. The longer the unit is in place, the more effective it is.
So....now you are faced with a choice. Some units are cheaper, but may be less durable, less effective and cover a smaller area. CATWatch, on the other hand, is built to last, is a more cost-effective deterrent, proven to work AND tested & approved by the RSPB. It also comes with a two-year guarantee and has been on the market since 1993.
Push the Catwatch ultrasonic cat deterrent into the ground, and when the sensor detects movement it emits a high-pitched sound disliked by most cats (but inaudible to humans). The frequency emitted is unique to cats hearing range, so the Catwatch won't bother other garden wildlife, such as hedgehogs.
It can take up to four weeks for a cat deterrent to become effective, especially if you place it into a cat's established territory. Some cats will see the device as a challenge initially, and it may take a few weeks to put them off coming into your garden.

Mains or battery-powered: requires either the 12-volt mains adaptor (available separately) or a high-quality 9-volt alkaline battery (not supplied).
Although the Catwatch ultrasonic cat deterrent does work with a high-quality 9V alkaline battery the manufacturers report a 30% increase in alarm noise when the unit is used with a mains adapter.
For maximum power and economy use mains adaptor kit. The mains adaptor is recommended if a lot of people or creatures pass by the unit because this may shorten battery life. (Average battery life - 2 -3 months - requires 1 x 9v high-quality alkaline battery).
Other advantages are: -
i. Maintains operation at peak efficiency as opposed to the declining power of batteries.
ii. The alarm is increased by 30%
iii. Long term economy - costs just a few pence per month to run.
iv. Completely safe - only the thin 30ft 12-volt bell wire runs outdoors to the unit.
Progressively reduces cat intrusions within your garden
Many people find cat-fouling a nuisance. This device is proven to reduce the presence of cats in gardens and the deterrent effect increases over time. Put simply, CATWatch actually trains cats to stay away from your garden. CATWatch does this by emitting a unique ultrasonic alarm, triggered by the cat's movement and body heat as soon as it enters the protected area.
Inaudible to humans
The series of CATWatch alarm frequencies are set above the human hearing range so you can enjoy your garden in complete peace and tranquillity.
Protects up to twice the area of other cat deterrents
One CATWatch unit will protect an area of up to 1,350 sq. ft. - up to twice the area of other makes. Furthermore, many other deterrents simply emit a random or permanent ultrasound signal regardless of whether a cat is present or not, resulting in the deterrent effect reducing over time. That's why many people who have tried other cat deterrents eventually choose CATWatch.
Works in all weather conditions
CATWatch is designed to run trouble free all year round and in all weather conditions from -30 C to +60 C. The low voltage computer controlled micro circuitry is completely sealed inside the unit, the only deterrent with this feature, so that in the unlikely event of water entering inside, it will still continue to function and be absolutely safe to touch.
