Wonder where the cats are hanging out now?

They are definitely avoiding our garden since the Catwatch on the mains adaptor has been in use, and there's only been one sad pile of feathers in 3 months and no cat poo - I repositioned the unit to cover the attack site and so far so good. I am happy with my purchase and now wish I had bought it sooner (the price put me off and I wasn't convinced it would do the job); it can't just be coincidence that the well established bad moggie gang are now leaving us in peace. The unit does sometimes emit long high beeps, usually when wet or being set off frequently by us, so being able to switch it off easily when we are out there is a bonus. The dog was curious at first but isn't at all bothered by it and the hedgehogs still visit - as do the squirrels unfortunately! I must say I am surprised the unit isn't made of tougher stuff though, I just hope it lasts. By Sue, on 14 Aug 2014

A very effective solution

No more cat poo! Worked immediately. Neat solution. If you're sick of the feline invasion -and the not so cuddly consequences- buy one of these !

Necessary evil

I am about to buy my third Catwatch. The other two have both either rusted or been destroyed by insect invasion, but having tried other, more expensive, scarers which sit much further off the ground, I have found them equally vulnerable. This one does at least keep next door's predatory Birman at bay while it is working. By Janet, on 7 Jul 2014

Product information

The only cat deterrent tested and approved by the RSPB.

Push the Catwatch ultrasonic cat deterrent into the ground, and when the sensor detects movement it emits a high-pitched sound disliked by most cats (but inaudible to humans). The frequency emitted is unique to cats hearing range, so the Catwatch won't bother other garden wildlife, such as hedgehogs.

It can take up to four weeks for a cat deterrent to become effective, especially if you place it into a cat's established territory. Some cats will see the device as a challenge initially, and it may take a few weeks to put  them off coming into your garden.

Unit 14.5 cm tall, with 16.6 cm ground spike.

Supplied with a comprehensive instruction booklet with diagrams.

  • - UK made
  • - 2 year manufacturer's warranty
Advice
Mains or battery-powered: requires either the 12-volt mains adaptor (available separately) or a 9-volt battery (not supplied).
Although the Catwatch ultrasonic cat deterrent does work with an ordinary 9V battery the manufacturers report a 35% increase in alarm noise when the unit is used with a mains adapter.
