    Batteries!
I have not used any similar cameras so I can't compare it's picture-taking quality. But my problem is in removing eight batteries, inserting them in a charger, removing them from the charger and inserting them back in the camera. A real bind. Can't understand why there is not just one battery with a purpose built re-charger.

    DISAPPOINTING
I have other similar cameras at half the price. This one is not designed to sit on the ground, the night-time images of close animals, such as hedgehogs, are blurry even at lowest resolution. Unlike other systems this camera does not keep a sequential log of images over its life time, it restarts from 1 each time which makes filing difficult. The catches could have been designed better to avoid damage to finger nails.
    RSPB response
Thank you. We know that this camera is capable of taking high-quality photographs and video. You will find that some images are blurry when animals are in motion. If animals are not in motion, please contact customer services as there may be a fault.

    Great..when it works
When it works it produces really clear pictures and videos, the caveat being the "when".. A lot of the time we find ourselves trying to make out barely visible figures in the gloom. We've tried altering the location of the camera, adjusting the PIR trigger etc but this doesn't seem to make a difference. As mentioned earlier when it does work the pictures/videos are great, the only problem is the inconsistency.
    RSPB response
Thank you. We are pleased to hear you are mostly happy with this camera. Your camera may be getting triggered by small disturbances such as moths and dust while the animals are out of range. As you have said, we would recommend reducing the PIR sensitivity

    Fabulous camera
I bought this to see what night visitors I had to the garden and the first night I captured two hedgehogs. It is a sturdy camera, the night vision worked great and the images were clear. An excellent buy.

    Worth every penny
We bought this camera from RSPB and another trail camera from another supplier. Whilst the trail camera was much cheaper our experience has proved the saying "you get what you pay for". The quality, ease of use and solid build has really shown what a great camera this is - We have video clips from our back garden showing badgers, hedgehogs, foxes and squirrels. Great entertainment investment

    Good purchase
Clear instructions. Much better than a previous camera bought elsewhere . Very pleased with
the quality of the images. Have used it to record
the hedgehogs in the garden with great success except last night they barged past and knocked it over ! Make sure it is securely fixed.
    RSPB response
Good advice! Thank you for sharing and great to know you've recorded hedgehogs in the garden.

    Hopeful...
Really pleased to have this and from the RSPB rather than commercial organisation but the user guide is not 'easy to follow'. Yes you can set it up but it's not in plain English (and I'm pretty tech savvy), not clear what all the bits in the box are for and doesn't tell you how to check the pictures (unless something missing in my box). So I've had it a few weeks but still not had the time to go research online and watch the videos people have posted about wildlife cameras to grapple with mine. Am sure it will all work out, just a bit frustrated at this early hiccup. Hence rating is in the middle as I just don't know yet!
    RSPB response
Thank you for your feedback. We have added the user guide to the camera product page (check the Advice section) so you can download a copy or check you have it. For further help please contact shopping@rspb.org.uk or call us!

    Good quality build and videos.
Been very pleased with the quality of the build of this camera, robust enough for the job. Picture and video quality are excellent, which is most important consideration. Perhaps a bit pricy compared to what I've seen on-line elsewhere, but we tried one £100 cheaper and it showed in the quality of construction and video quality, so sent it back and got a second one of these. Found it particularly useful at night - discovered we have a couple of regular fox visitors; most exciting, a hedgehog - didn't even know there were any in this area.
Only criticism is that although it will take a test shot, that can only be done with the case open, so if it's strapped to a tree it won't be pointing in the right direction! Have to turn it on, walk in front of it to take a picture, then got back and review it on its LCD screen to see if it's showing where I want.
