Moorcroft vase, Hazel Pot Beetle

RSPB > Gifts & home > Home & kitchen > Decorative home accessories > Vases

Adult hazel pot beetles, although very rare, are almost always found on birch or hazel bushes, making them woodland dwellers. With reddish-orange wing covers and jet-black legs, they certainly stand out. Vicky has situated these glossy bugs amongst tasty hazel leaves. Each hazel nut is held in a short leafy husk which encloses about three quarters of the nut, nestled next to small green catkins.
