RSPB Super suet hanging cakes, berry

R404379
RSPB > Bird food > Suet for birds > Suet cakes
We've improved the recipe in our hanging bird cakes.
They're now made with our Super suet formula which means they are just as packed with energy for the birds but they aren't sticky for you! Plus the packaging is much easier to open.

Each 500 g cake has internal supports and can be hung from a hook or bracket.

Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy this food, though other species may also enjoy it too:

berry suet cakes
The birds in my garden are not fond of these. They much prefer the buggy variety. There is a half-eaten cake hanging at present not being touched. Even the jackdaws are ignoring them.
RSPB response
Thank you. We are sorry to hear about this. Most garden birds should enjoy our berry cakes, though mealworms are very popular and birds will often eat their favourite foods first. Once the buggy cakes are gone, your berry cakes may follow.

My birds love these
I find these great for feeding the birds. I mainly get starlings and blue tits. I find the consistency just right, solid enough not to drop off, but not too hard that the birds can't eat them, They last a long time which is good. I used to use the coconut shells but the starling could polish one off in a day.

Good stuff
A favourite with tits and especially blackbirds and the red berry cakes were the type the seamed to prefer.

Birds love it
We have had so many different birds feeding from the berry cake in our small city garden that I am ordering more. We haven't had the problems of another reviewer with it breaking off in lumps, so I hope the new ones are just as good. Our experience so far is top class.

The birds like it, but...
I like the new packaging. The birds like the food (although they liked the old recipe too!). The problem? This food is very crumbly and some birds can peck off large lumps. This means that there is more wastage, there's a lot of mess to clean up, and the birds go though it twice as fast. This means I would have to spend twice as much to keep up. I can't afford to spend that much, so I won't be buying these again. Please bring back the old recipe!
