    Product information

    • SPECIAL OFFER: Save £2
Save £2 when you buy a small Ultimate easy-clean seed feeder with 1.8kg sunflower hearts. We have already applied the discount to this product. Simply add it to your basket.

Our Ultimate easy-clean seed feeders are incredibly tough. The top and base are made from durable zinc alloy, and the polycarbonate tube won't discolour or fade in the sun.

Our whole sunflower hearts can be used in seed feeders, on bird tables or on the ground all year round. Rich in oil and protein and bursting with energy, they're quick and easy-to-eat, and are particularly appreciated by tits, greenfinches, goldfinches, blackbirds and house sparrows.

RSPB sunflower hearts are grown as close to home as possible, from European black seeds. Other hearts might come from as far away as China, Argentina or America (they've got many more miles on the clock) and lost their protective coat long ago. The RSPB sunflower heart is greener, plump, nutritious and in tip-top condition.

    Well made but poorly designed
I bought this feeder a month ago, to replace the old style RSPB feeder which had finally cracked and given up the ghost. I filled it with the usual seed mix I've been using for years and popped it out, to find that the birds, of course, ignored it. I left it for a couple of weeks, thinking that they'd get used to it, but still felt perturbed when, after three weeks, hardly any birds had visited. On close inspection I can see why - the seed doesn't flow through the feeder at all - the birds eat the small amount immediately accessible to them, but as more seed doesn't then flow down into the feeding holes they don't come back for more. I've checked the seed and it's all dry, so it's not getting stuck, the feeder is simply not designed to allow free flowing of the seed. As the feeder was quite costly this is annoying to say the least. I have emailed customer services about this but not had a response.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed. We know that birds do happily use these feeders. Unfortunately, we have also heard of birds taking months to adjust to new feeders. We hope you see some improvement much sooner.

    Durable
I've had mine for a few years now and it is still going strong. Yes it can be a bit of a puzzle to reassemble if you are half awake but after 6am I find it goes together very quickly. It is very easy to clean and no need for screwdrivers or Allen keys. I have a tray on mine and all my small birds are happy to use it (tits, robins, dunnocks) as well as nuthatch and gt spotted woodpecker.

    Great little feeder
This was bought as a present for christmas and I am very impressed with the quality. I've seen too many made of cheap plastic but the lid, base and stand are all great quality, heavy and solid. Would buy again.

    Keeps falling apart
I bought this seed feeder and attached the circular perspex tray I bought as an accessory. I put put it on the feeding station in my garden but overnight the bottom fell out, scattering the seeds. I cleaned and carefully reassembled it ensuring the locking pins were properly located but again it fell apart, and now one of the key components is missing so it can't be reassembled.

Expensive but solid and well made.
My bird table is in a exposed, windy position. This years storms have wrecked a number of cheaper feeders, or lifted the lids and let rain into the seed.
I have had this feeder for two months and I am very happy with it. I have large groups of goldfinches and siskins visiting it daily, the blue tits also seems to like it . I have noticed that the sparrows are still weary of it, they prefer the older feeder that I'm still using.
But, Importantly, despite heavy Welsh rain the seed has remained dry and the lid stays firmly on.
I plan on replaced my nyjer feeder with an RSPB model.

I see a lot a negative comments about birds not liking these feeders , but that is not my experience. My regular visitors don't see bothered at all.
