    Misleading Photo
The website photo shows a roughly even mix of suet, mealworms and fruit. The 2.5kg bag I bought recently contains a much higher proportion of suet. However, the birds are eating it all up and I am supplementing it with sizeable quantities of soaked dried mealworms.

    So-So
I bought this along with a load of other stuff which I have to admit was a lot more popular. For some reason the birds around here aren't keen on suet, and on top of that rain will melt the suet pellets into a sludge - something I found out when I put a heap of this in my mesh tray feeder and came back the next morning to find that it had worked it's way inbetween all the holes in the mesh. D'oh!

I subsequently took to sprinkling these on the ground, where they were relatively successful with the Pigeons, Collared Doves and horde of local Squirrels. I did also put some in the tray from time to time when the weather was forecast good, but they just didn't ""fly off the shelves"" like the dried mealworms and mixed seed feed, and especially peanuts.

May be great for others, but not my birds :(.

    Almost too tasty
I used this to attract the birds when I started out feeding them but they quickly became spolit and wouldn't eat anything else! I ration them now - it's always popular.

    Highly Addictive to our Birds
We purchased this to give the birds more of a variety, and they love it, I was literally topping it up every day, once it was all gone, I used some other suet brand on the table and they haven't touched it, so im waiting for my next delivery of this, we obviously have birds with preferred taste, to me th price is very resonable especially because of the different ingredients that goes in the mix.

A favourite, but serve sparingly or it works out pricey!
This is the clear favourite in my garden, but goes so quickly, it does work out rather expensive to replenish at the rate the birds get through it. They tend to shun other food while any of this is still left, so sometimes it's best to postpone refilling it, so the alternatives get eaten, otherwise they go mouldy and have to be thrown away. There is a tendency for the raisins to be rejected, and left in the bottom of the feeder. I'm not sure if this is because the birds have trouble getting them through the mesh (but seem fine with the rest!) or just don't like them. I usually shake them onto the ground before refilling.

Successful feed for variety of birds
I have many dunocks, house sparrows, blackbirds, herring gulls, jackdaws, robins, blue tits and crows who eat this feed so quickly I get through loads. It is expensive though and I struggle with that.

    The birds ignor the suet
Thought i would try this as a change from dried mealworms,.but had to throw the pack of Peck n Mix away, as the birds ignored the suet so waste of money

The suet balls that I provide get eaten so don't know why this particular suit small tube is inedible

Will still order the packets of dried mealworms as it runs out every day

    Very disappointed .

    RSPB response:
Thank you for your review. The suet in our peck 'n' mix is very popular and it is very strange that your birds did not eat it. It can take the birds some time to try new food, and feeding habits can vary locally dependent upon various factors. Our suet pellets remain a best seller and a favourite amongst the birds and our customers.

    they won't eat it
Bought this as the winter treat but even allowing for them to get used to it all our many birds refuse to eat the raisins or the mealworms. We have put it out for over a month now but it remains on the table but everything else goes. The resident pheasant and magpies even avoid it! What is wrong, any ideas?

    RSPB response:
This is unusual as mealworms are usually one of the most popular foods available, and one of the quickest to be eaten. Raisins are loved by ground feeding birds such as blackbirds and song thrushes, although in the really cold weather it may be that birds are preferring the high energy they get from the suet, and choose to eat that over the other ingredients. Birds can change their eating habits and preferences based on their environment and conditions.

I don't normally buy this as it is more expensive than the other suet products. However it does get eaten, even the fruit bits.

    They love it!
We have become the most popular garden in the street! Chaffinches, blue tits, long tailed tits, black caps, robins, great tits, sparrows. And now the two starlings have told their friends and we've got five! They can't get enough of this food!

The birds love it - but not so much the raisins
I don't know why but the birds gobble this all up and leave most of the raisins. I'm sure they do go eventually but they're always the last to go, maybe it's just the time of year and the fat is more important.
For an easy mix this is brill but I'll probably mix my own in future and see what the birds go for most at different times of the year. Especially as the bulk purchase price of some of the component parts is better because you can get them in bigger batches.

    Very, very popular food...
Many birds love the Peck 'n' Mix, but not many get a chance to eat it, as there is a flock of starlings that visits my garden especially to wolf it down! They gather in the trees as soon as they see me with the tray, and are on the feeder almost before I'm back in the house! Magpies and jackdaws also like it a lot, and tend to bully the smaller birds off the feeder to get the suet bits. My garden robin also loves it, but has to be quick to get in there before the starlings have gobbled it all! It seems to be extra popular now in this wintry snowy weather.

    The FAVOURITE!
I've been feeding the birds in my back garden for about a year now and always have four different feeders available all with a good selection of food. This food is the clear favourite. I have berry flavoured nibbles that I usually buy from my supermarket when RSPB products are out of reach and my impression was that the birds went crazy for the berry nibbles, but I recently purchased a large nibble feeder instead of the small one I had been using and I treated the birds and half filled with berry nibbles and half with peck n mix and it's now the following day and only berry nibbles are still there so we have a winner! This is definitely my top priority food to buy for my birds and I love watching them enjoy it, however my 3 stars value for money is that it's loved so much that it is gone within the day and so a lot of £3.49s is a lot of money, especially when there is greedy Starlings in your garden.

    Amazing - bird heaven!
I completely agree with the above reviews. If you want a Christmas present for your birds, this is it! Within no time I had a song thrush, starling (absent from garden for a long time), blue, great & coal tits, green & goldfinches robins, pied wagtails & a female blackcap, together with the blackbirds. A packet disappeared in a day & I have ordered a large tub. I will have to ration it but in this freezing winter weather its great to know the birds will thrive. Thank you rspb this is a brilliant product! .

    Fantastic food
I put a full packet out in the morning to see what it was like. Within seconds the birds were flocking and by the end of the day the whole packet was finished! I couldn't believe it. I sat and watched the birds' antics for a full hour. Blue tits, great tits, sparrows, starlings, a robin, 2 wood pigeons, thrush, blackbird and a greenfinch. Amazing! Problem is, I can't afford a packet a day, lol.

    A great food
The birds love this stuff it goes quickly if put out on a table. My only reservation is a worry it will melt in the heat of the summer sun. I have it in a feeder on a tree and also on a pole. I dont think I will be able to put in a feeder on a pole when the summer comes.

    Beware! Don't get ripped off.
I bought the 2.5 kg refill bag of this as the 3kg bags of buggy nibbles i wanted were out of stock (Darts Farm Shop, Devon) RSPB are removing over 0.5kg of the buggy nibbles (Suet which is what the Birds love) and replacing it with a few dried mealworms and raisins, then charging you the same as the 3 kg bag of buggy nibbles. The birds will go through 3kg of suet in no time so this loss of 0.5kg will make a big difference. I've already spent

    This is a big hit!
Like the previous reviewer, this mix seems to be a particular hit with starlings and their young at the moment, who monopolise the bird table as soon as I put it out. However, I find their noisy squabbles and antics highly entertaining so I'm back to purchase some more!

    Wonder feed
No matter what type of bird I get in my garden they adore the peck and mix feed. The large birds such as Jackdaws fly in and have even learnt to hang onto the small bird feeders and poke their beaks through the hole. Only trouble is they have broken several of the perches off these. It brings in all the species we have round here with one or two extras too. The owls from the wood below have now found it and I am going to have to get my camera out to take their photo but they always catch me out without it.

Birds cannot get enough of it!
Have been buying Peck 'n'Mix for a few months and the birds just can't get enough!! I can't put it down quick enough for them, especially the starlings, but I've had to limit them to a handful a day as it would be too expensive to feed it to them at the rate they want it!!!

    Picky birds!
My birds, ranging from blue tits, through collared doves to rooks, are a bit choosy about what they'll eat. Some food from the garden centre had to be thrown out, but a large tub of Peck 'n' Mix has lasted three days, and they are squabbling over it! I need more!

Birds are voting with their beaks!
It was a bit of a slow starter but the garden had been quiet until the last few weeks anyway. Now I put it out in the morning and it's gone by lunch time. And I've started getting starlings for the first time in 7 years! Not saying it is purely down to this food but that is what they are choosing to eat. Along with the blackbirds, tits, robins, finches and thrushes. Only issue is it will be costly to maintain the supply!
