    Best thing ever!!
This is fantastic!! Everything eats it - all the birds eat it, including our resident pheasants, the squirrels eat it and now the hedgehog family have discovered it. It goes down a treat. Well done RSPB for making this combination.
    RSPB response
Thank you for your review, its great to hear how pleased you are with our bird granola! We would advise against feeding this to hedgehogs due to dried mealworms in the mix which are linked to metabollic bone diseases in hedgehogs.

Bird granola plants grass in my garden!
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I started using Bird Granola on my bird table in spring 2017. The birds love it, but later in the year I noticed clumps of grasses growing around the garden. I ignored them at first, thinking that they would die off over winter, but of course, certain types of grass do not die, and these clumps got bigger and bigger. When I tried to pull them out they held fast, and although smaller clumps would come out by hand, with a twist and a pull, the larger clumps have needed a shovel! I am convinced it is the seeds in the granola, because I've never had this grass before in the 20 years I've lived in this house. So, no more granola for now. If I see no grass returning this year, then I'll know. So while I would recommend Bird Granola for the birds, I would not recommend it if you want your garden turning into a farmer's field of crops! The grass blades are quite sharp, like dune grass, and it rustles in the wind, which is nice, but not if you want your flowers to grow! :-)

    Not liked
Not sure why but the birds in my garden didn't want to eat this, leaving it to make a horrid mess of the bird feeders and even on the ground.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear your birds are not enjoying our granola mix. We advise to persevere when putting out new food as birds can be cautious to try new mixes. Hopefully your birds will be enjoying our granola soon!

    Success
We've only recently started to buy this, and we're delighted that we've now had for the first time a goldfinch, wren and even a greater spotted woodpecker at the bird station. The amount of sparrows and blackbirds has increased too. We're astounded and delighted. Will definitely be buying this again.

RSPB response: Thank you for your lovely review, it's great to hear how much your birds are enjoying our granola, especially in this cold weather!

    Fab
I mix this granola with more mealworm, suet sprinkles and currants/sultanas and it's very popular with all visiting birds as well as our hedgehogs. There's never any left as I assume it's good stuff. Very pleased

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, its great to hear the mix you make with our granola and how your birds and hedgehogs enjoy it! Please be aware that mealworms should be given to hedgehogs as a complimentary treat only, and not too often, as it can make them ill.

    The Robins love it
Wasn't sure about this new food when I bought it last month. It didn't fly off the feeder plate like the buggy nibbles, but then I realised that my family of Robins love it. They are back every day for a feed, so for me, it's a winner

    First class food
I have been using this granola for some time now. It is the first to go closely followed by the super suet nibbles. All birds love it and the normally shy robins will sit for a while on the bird table to get at this. An excellent addition to the RSPB food range.

Thank you for your review, we are really pleased to hear that the new granola bird food is going down a treat.
