Not bad but could do better
I bought this game a few months ago to play with grandchildren aged between six and nine and it has been enjoyed up to a point. However, my hope that much could be learned about our wildlife has not been fulfilled. The character pictures, which are fixed on a sheet and cannot be re-positioned in the tray, are too small for the amount of detail given and therefore not easily made out. Consequently, the questions asked are limited to large features and soon begin to be repeated. Even if one managed to pose a question on a minor detail it could be difficult to get an answer other than ‘I can’t quite see it’ as the pictures at the top are extremely minute.

On the technical side, the game trays are very fiddly to assemble but, at least, that only needs to be done once. Then, using the game trays clipped together creates problems about light as one player is almost inevitably bound to have at least some shade on the game tray and the slightest shake causes doors to flip shut. We found it best to use the trays separately to find the best light and the trays can then also be held at a tilt to keep the doors open, though a movement could still send them easily fall shut. But with care we have used it and have derived some pleasure from it on a basic level.

For the price I had, however, also expected a supporting booklet or poster giving more detail and background information about the featured characters. Also, more than just one character sheet per tray for a bit more variety would extend interest.

    My niece loved it!
Good twist on old favourite from my childhood. Bought it for my Niece for Christmas - she loved it! Educational but fun. Little hard to assemble but obvious once you've done it - wouldn't put me off buying it again

RSPB response: Thank you for your lovely comments, we are glad your Niece enjoys it!
