    Great - For Adults Too
I bought a pair of these on a website, but they are also worth the full price.
They would be great for children (budget porro is always better than budget roof prisms). They are proper little binoculars.
They are also perfectly adequate for adults too, as mini-bins, to take to sports events, concerts, etc. (I would have liked less power, more field of view, but that is not so easy optically, and not worthwhile economically).

    Check inter pupillary distance
I bought this pair of bins when my son was around 6 or 7 not worrying about inter pupillary distance (IPD), assuming it will be fine as it was made for children. Unfortunately IPD has been an issue. My son has not been able to see with both eyes for over 3 years now, which is such a shame. I am unable to find IPD on the box or on the website. So best to get your child to try it before you buy.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. These binoculars are often used by adults as well as children, so this is surprising. It is not an issue I have heard of before with these so if you think these are faulty please contact customer services.

    Great buy.
I've been looking for a pair of binoculars for a child and was tempted to try these on the basis of other reviews. I was not disappointed. As a first pair of proper binoculars they are brilliant.

    Not as good as expected
On reading the other reviews maybe my expectations were too high. I bought two pairs for my grandchildren in Oz and found the eye pieces too wide apart for a child's use and even for me. Disappointing results overall but it's a long way to bring them back!

RSPB response - Thanks for your review. The width of the binoculars is adjustable by pushing the eyepieces closer together or further apart to suit.

    Excellent
I ordered these for my 5 year old daughter as her previous binoculars never seemed up to much (I found them very tricky to use). These ones arrived the next day, which is very impressive! The binoculars themselves are ideal. Very compact so easy to carry, with a smart carrying pouch. They are very easy to use, she got the hang of it immediately. Lovely clear vision through them and great magnification. Very happy with them, my husband wants a pair now! Birding grandpa was very impressed too. Would definitely recommend for children, will buy a pair for my son soon.

    Best kid's binoculars
We have been using these binoculars at our Ecology Park for years with school classes and holiday activity groups. They are robust, easy to use and great for beginners. Adults who have never used binoculars think they are great too.

    Not just for Children!
I purchased these for my daughter years ago and they were far superior to the full size binoculars that we owned. Easy to use and the close-ups are amazing for such a small binocular. They are also excellent quality, having taken a battering over the years and they still look as good as new. We take them everywhere with us. Small enough to throw in a handbag, bag or pocket, they are an everyday 'must-have' accessory so that you never miss an opportunity to spot something at a distance, even when not out in the field. Even if you own some serious twitching equipment, I would recommend a pair of Wildlife Explorer binoculars to throw in your pocket, regardless of what age you are! Based on my experience, I would highly recommend RSPB binoculars, its worth paying a bit extra to get a quality product.
