Product information

Innovative Ultimate Easy-clean® nut & nibble bird feeder.

This bird feeder is great for feeding peanuts and suet pellets/nibbles to your garden birds. High-quality and durable, these feeders are made to withstand the elements with stainless steel mesh and powder-coated zinc-alloy fittings. The metal fittings also stop squirrels chewing and damaging the feeder as they would with plastic feeders.

These feeders have been designed to include Easy-clean functionality. Simply twist the base off and remove the lid to clean.

Feeders made from steel mesh are the only safe method for offering whole peanuts to wild birds. The mesh size needs to be large enough to prevent beak damage, but small enough to stop birds taking the whole nut, which can be a choking hazard.

Features
Suitable for peanuts and suet nibbles |Feeder measures 30 cm (including the handle), 6.3 cm diameter |Capacity: 500 ml |Castings: Zinc alloy - powder coated |Cage: Stainless steel

Not squirrel proof
I thought this would be strong enough to thwart the squirrels but although the mesh withstands their teeth they soon managed to dislodge the base and happily tuck into the contents deposited on the ground.
RSPB response
Thank you. We are sorry that you were disappointed with this. The feeder tray base screws into the bottom of the feeder, so squirrels should not be able to dislodge this unless something is wrong with the tray/connection. Please contact customer services.

Great feeder
This feeder is attractive and robust, very simple to clean and refill. The birds love it! A couple of weeks after putting it up on an urban terrace in London, the sparrows started coming. Now they're emptying it (of buggy nibbles) in two days or less! We've also had great tits drop by, and probably other birds we've just not seen yet.

Seems to be quite a robust feeder - time will tell
I bought this to feed suet pellets and it does the job well. When I came to clean it the base did indeed twist off fairly easily and I was very pleased to find a clear plastic cap over the base of the feeder which also unscrews and makes cleaning even easier. It should also protect the metal of the base which often, even with expensive feeders, can rust after time. As the feeder is obviously mesh, rain can be a big problem - a much wider lid with a generous overhang would be a great improvement and provide some protection from rain. (I have fashioned a rain guard out of a plastic ice cream tub lid, into the middle of which I cut a slit and this slides down over the handle of the feeder and sits on the lid and it does work!)
