Product information

We have taken our years of expertise to develop this durable and easy to clean bird feeder. Our Ultimate easy-clean seed feeders are incredibly tough. The top and base are made from durable zinc alloy, and the polycarbonate tube won't weaken or discolour in the sun.

Easy to disassemble and clean, this medium size easy-clean feeder comes with four ports and 1 litre capacity for straight and mixed seeds.

The modern, fresh design will also look great in your garden, and especially wonderful when your gardens birds are queuing up to take a perch.

  • 1 litre capacity for straight and mixed seeds
  • Improved ring perch design incorporating customer (and bird!) feedback for 2021 (matching the popular Classic Easy-clean® ring perch)
  • Extra ventilation in the feeder lid to minimise condensation and keep food fresh
  • Perches, lid and base are made from a powder-coated zinc alloy
  • Durable, UV-stabilised polycarbonate tube that won't weaken or discolour in the sun

Want to protect your feeder from larger birds and squirrels? We have got a matching guardian for this feeder available here. You can also add our Ultimate Seed tray to provide extra perching space and reduce waste further.

Ultimate vs Classic range

The green lid, base and perches of our Ultimate bird feeders are made of durable zinc alloy, making them longer-lasting and suitable for gardens with squirrels and parakeets. (If these visitors usually destroy your bird feeders, you'll find the zinc alloy parts on our Ultimate feeders resist damage from claws and teeth, so your Ultimate feeder will last much longer.) Both ranges are Easy-clean® and feature a UV-stabilised polycarbonate tube that won't weaken or discolour in the sun, and both now feature the same comfortable ring perch design.

The Best Birdfeeder I've had
This is the best feeder among the many I have bought. Easy to dismantle for cleaning which is very important to ensure disease isn't spread.

The multi port design is also great for the birds and means they can eat four at once.

Dont buy this
After 2days in place, one of the 2 feeders I bought had been destroyed presumably by a determined squirrel! the other feeder has bee repaired several times as the perches fall off, leaving mounds of seed on the ground. I have taped the perches in place to try and address the very poor design and quality of this item. Not fit for purpose.
RSPB response
Thank you. We are very sorry and surprised to hear about the squirrel damage. Please ensure the perches are clicked securely into place. If you believe there may be a fault, please contact customer services so we can replace any faulty parts.

One big problem!
These feeders are really good and my garden birds love them, BUT the feed openings are large enough for jackdaws to use. I can lose half a feederful of seed in half an hour to an assembly of up to ten jackdaws. They already thieve everything off the bird table and, being torpedo-shaped, are impossible to keep off it. Please make the feeders with smaller seed apertures so that only small birds can use them.
RSPB response
We are pleased to hear your garden birds love these feeders! The seed apertures have been carefully design to be safe for a wide range of birds. We would recommend using a guardian with this feeder to make access more difficult for larger birds.

Tube is flimsy and cracked easily
Like the large capacity and ease of taking apart to clean.

BUT - we haven't had this for long and the flimsy tube is already cracked in several places (combination of visiting parakeets and jackdaws hasn't helped; and for one of the holes it is very difficult to put the perch back in place.)

I understand replacement tubes are available but I can't find them on the website - can someone tell me how to get one please (6 perch size)?
Thanks
RSPB response
We are sorry to hear this. We are hoping to bring back parakeet-proof feeders when they become available. Please contact our customer services team and we can send a replacement tube out to you. We would also recommend using a guardian with this feeder.

Sturdy but doesn't work
Very happy with build quality, I've had no issues taking apart, cleaning and reassembling. The issue i have is that the sunflower hearts i bought as a bundle with the feeder do not fall past the feeding holes, and as such the actual feeding zones become empty even if the whole cylinder is empty. I have to constantly go out and give it a shake to make the seeds fall through to the feeding area. This has resulted in the cylinder cracking, and seeds falling to the ground where they are promptly eaten by the horrible pigeons.
RSPB response
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear this. The seed is not supposed to fill the port entrance but sit just below the lip of the entrance so birds can reach in and eat. Please can you contact our customer services team so we can help resolve this

The Best
This is the best feeder among the many I have bought. Super easy to dismantle & reassemble* for cleaning which is very important, not least because it encourages you to clean it often.
A beautifully simple design
I buy the single port one because multi ports might encourage mould. Being allergic to seed I use sunflower hearts. I have 4 at the moment, 2 in use & 2 in wash, but I’m going to order more to replace different makes. They are relatively expensive & they took a long time to arrive last time but is worth it in the long run.

Assemble and disassemble of ports are difficult
This is the best feeder I've ever had but one tiny thing you may be able to improve. The holes for ports are too tight. I have cut the bottom of the holes 1 or 2 mm then I can take the ports out and put them in easily without squeeze the pipe. If you try to cut the plastic tube yourself please be careful. Don't cut your finger!

Like this feeder
I think this feeder is a good design, and easy to take apart and put back together again for cleaning once you get accustomed to it! I don't know if I have an earlier version of this but there's thin black plastic pole that goes through the middle of mine to hold everything in place. This is now disintegrating and looks likely to break next time I clean the feeder. Can I buy this as a spare part please, as everything else on the feeder is fine?

Rather Disappointing.
Purchased as a replacement for a previous RSPB easy clean feeder that had given many years of problem free service. However, the new design is poor, with the perches held in place by flimsy plastic clips. This resulted in one of the perches falling off within a couple of weeks of use, and despite my best efforts, I have been unable to properly secure it back in place.
RSPB response
We are sorry to hear this. To best insert the ports, hold the tube in shape by gently squeezing the tube on either side of the port you are inserting. You will know when the clip is secure as you will hear it click. We also have spare parts available.

Please put the assembly instructions online!!!
Functional for the birds but very hard to reassemble. Plastic clips for perches do not clip on to the plastic tube without pushing/bending tube a bit. Very hard to attach bottom to tube, particularly if you have lost the instructions. PLEASE PUT THE INSTRUCTIONS ONLINE.
RSPB response

Improved design
The best design yet, Very little need to tap the tube to knock seed down, and no need for clip-on perch rings.
Only slight drawbacks are that it can be tricky to get the upper perches to fully 'click' into place, and the lid is so tight-fitting, it's hard for me to push it off.
Little pricey, but seems to be really sturdy.

Tricky to clean
I find it difficult to take apart and reassemble. The little plastic clips are fiddly and do not snap in very definitely. Much preferred the old design of this feeder, I had one for a long time until the casing broke, after many years of use.
RSPB response

Disappointed
This “new design” of easy clean feeder is very disappointing compared to the old design. The old design with the pin inserted from the bottom to secure the perches, although a little more fiddly to reassemble, holds the perches in place securely and the ones I have have lasted well for several years. The “new design” however, although the metal components are just as solid as the old design, is let down by the flimsy plastic clip which holds (or doesn’t hold) the perches in place. On only the 2nd occasion I took the feeder apart for cleaning one of the plastic clips snapped; I now have a feeder with one perch and a hole that the seed pours out. Brilliant.
