Product description

St Davids Distillery is a 'people over profit' company, committed to reinvesting profits to Welsh charities that are working towards #ABetterWales. This ethical, community-first approach is a natural fit for RSPB in Wales and specifically, RSPB Ramsey Island.

Ramsey Island is an iconic landmark of St Davids life. The legends that surround it, the wildlife that thrives on it and the waters that beat against it all contribute to its rich tapestry of life. St Davids Distillery have produced a collection of Gin and Art prints - the Ramsey Series. Profit donations go towards funding RSPB projects on and around Ramsey Island. Recent examples include a water filtration system for island visitors to replace the sale of bottled water, and ongoing annual boat hire to cut fledgling gannets free from marine plastics. Learn more and browse the full collection at St Davids Distillery.

Enjoy a special 5% discount with St David’s Gin. By clicking on the prior link, you will be whisked away to St Davids Gin, to choose a bottle (or two) of your favourite RSPB gin. A donation from the sale of each bottle will go towards funding the important work we are doing on Ramsey Island. Your discount offer will be applied on purchase.

RSPB Grassholm, lying south west of Ramsey Island, is home to 36,000 pairs of northern gannets and is the third largest colony in the world for this species. This is the UK’s largest breeding seabird, with a wing span of up to 2m and weighing up to 3kg a windy location is ideal for taking off in a crowded seabird colony.

Grassholm’s isolation means it is free from ground predators and a safe haven for the gannets to raise their single chick, a lengthy process that stretches from egg laying in April to fledging in September.

The RSPB carry out aerial population counts every five years and productivity monitoring annually (the number of chicks that fledge from a set number of nests).
