Designer: Vicky Lovatt
Extinct in the UK for at least 100 years, avocets returned to our shores to breed in 1947. Since then, the conservation work of the RSPB has been crucial to the success of these distinctive birds, and around 50% of the UK’s avocet’s now breed on RSPB reserves. The RSPB’s iconic avocet logo was designed by artist Robert Gillmor in 1955, and first used on a tie before being adopted as the charity’s official logo in 1970. 50 years on in 2020, designer Vicky Lovatt has chosen to feature a pair of these extraordinary birds, together with their young, on a classic Moorcroft vase to celebrate the occasion.
Moorcroft pottery are renowned for their craftsmanship and quality, as well as their beautiful depictions of British wildlife. Their pieces are numbered, limited editions and are highly collectable. We have worked in partnership with Moorcroft for several years, and this season we have chosen a selection of our favourite pieces from their latest collections.
