RSPB > Bird care > Bird tables > Ground feeding bird tables

This brilliant arch ground feeder is durable and stylish.

The mesh feeding area stops water from accumulating, and the clear roof provides some protection from the rain.

The clever design of this feeder gives you an uninterrupted view of the birds feeding, as well as being quick to assemble. The design features a hole in the roof which allows the feeder to be hung.

    BIRDS LOVE THIS
I bought this when I went to RSPB Minsmere. I have hung it by a wire on the bird station with lots of sunflower seeds and crushed fat balls. It did take a few days for the birds to adjust to a strange object on the feeder but when they did they loved it. Its easy to clean and the cover keeps the food and the birds dry. My birds give this a thumbs up.

    Very disappointing
We bought one of these feeders and have tried it hanging. We've had meal worms and scraps and seeds and nothing is tempted. We've tried for many months now but the birds don't like it.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear your birds do not seem to be using this feeder. We will feedback to our supplier to see if they have any suggestions on how to get the best out of this feeder.

    Sadly, no visitors
Although it is still a little early to expect crowds of birds to our garden (wild food still being available to birds in this mild October), we do see tits, a wren and robin coming to the hanging feeder.
We bought this one so that we could easily clean it and liked the little roof of clear plastic.
It has been outside, away from cats and rats, for two weeks now and not a single grain has been taken.
We think that the plastic hood may be the deterrent to birds who could see themselves reflected in it. Since this can't be removed without breaking up the feeder, we tried spraying it a dark grey. It is sitting there, probably looking like a trap or a cat.
Too late now to return it since we've altered it.
    Not recommended, I'm afraid.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with this product. Birds are very cautious creatures, so we do advise to be patient with new feeders in the garden, as it can take a couple of months for them to adjust and feel comfortable using it. We do not recommend painting feeders. Please ensure if you are going to coat the feeder, you use a water-based preservative based which is not harmful to birds.
