How do BeeBee beeswax wraps work?
Using the heat of your hands shape your BeeBee Wrap around bowls and food to create a breathable seal. The breathable seal stops food becoming sweaty, with less moisture your food lasts longer cutting down on food waste and saving you money. Play around and feel how they are malleable when warm and hold their shape when cold.
Hand wash in cold water and eco-friendly soap. Avoid using with raw meat and fish, dishwashers or microwaves.
Love your BeeBee and it will last a year or more, and twice that if you use Relax & Rewax Refreshers. Then ensure you leave no trace by composting your BeeBee Wrap or using as a firelight on your wood-burning stove!
What is the BeeBee beeswax food wrap made from?
- Beeswax - sourced from the UK, as locally as possible to the makers, BeeBee & Leaf.
- Organic cotton - GOTS certified organic cotton, ensuring that cotton is sourced from mills which provide safe and fair working conditions for their staff, do not employ children, use no GMOs, no pesticides and no man-made fertilisers. Which foods are great to use with BeeBee beeswax wraps?
Experiment and try whatever you normally eat!
Perfect for keeping bread fresh, whilst it seals around bread to prevent staling it allows bread to breathe prolonging its life. It is also fabulous at packing up a picnic of foods which can be stored together e.g. a mountain of sandwiches! Fold the wrap in half, tapering the edges between your warm fingers to seal shut and you have a salad bag which keeps green leaves fresh for a week.
Try wrapping your BeeBee around cheese, sandwiches, celery, melon, cover leftovers, make pouches for nuts and crisps... endless ideas!
Avoid raw meat and fish.
Can I put my BeeBee Wraps in the freezer?
Yes! BeeBee Wraps are fine to go in the freezer. They might need to be brought back to room temperature to wrap something new though.
How does heat interact with BeeBee beeswax wraps?
Your BeeBee is made from beeswax which will feel different at varying temperatures. In warmer environments they feel softer, in colder, they feel firmer and not as tacky. BeeBee beeswax wraps are not fans of your microwave, dishwasher, washing machine or oven. They love to be hand washed in cold water. Ensure the food is cold before wrapping.
Do I need to wash my BeeBee Wrap after every use?
Not necessarily. It depends what kind of food you've used with your wraps. After using them with something dry like bread, crackers or seeds, you can simply give your wrap a wipe down to get rid of any crumbs. However, for something wetter like half an avocado, cheese or cooked meat, you will want to give your wrap a wash and a scrub in cold soapy water.
Does food stain my BeeBee?
Some foods will stain your BeeBee Wrap adding to its personality! However, if you prefer not to stain it avoid direct contact with foods that would typically stain clothes on contact, for example, tomatoes, blackcurrants, beetroot etc.
BeeBee beeswax wraps smell delicious but will the fragrance affect my food?
The BeeBee Wrap fragrance is direct from the hive itself and, like the colour of the wax, changes depending on where the bees have foraged. Some people are sensitive to the smell however it won't affect your food and will diminish with washing.
How should I store my BeeBee Wrap?
BeeBee Wraps are best stored rolled, for instance rolled in a drawer or in a jar on the kitchen countertop.
Who makes BeeBee beeswax wraps?
BeeBee & Leaf make BeeBee beeswax wraps in their workshop in Cambridge. They use state of the art equipment affectionately named Bertha, Boris and Flora. Every wrap is checked for quality a number of times by a member of the team and packaged individually, also by hand.
