First published in 1956, Swifts in a Tower still offers readers astonishing insights into the private lives of swifts, their lifestyle and wider issues. In the 60 years since it was first published, swifts have been studied even more thoroughly using technology unimaginable in the 1950s. This latest edition, with a new chapter by Andrew Lack, brings the story of this remarkable bird into the twenty-first century.

This republication has been made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, as part of the Oxford Swift City project. This two-year project was launched in May 2017, led by the RSPB, seeking to improve the outlook for swifts in Oxford by raising local awareness of the swifts’ plight and the actions people can take to help them.

£15 (100%) from the sale of this book will go to the Oxford Swift City project.
