    A fantastic narrative!

In The Hen Harrier Donald Watson writes about his lifelong research, observations and experience with hen harriers and their habitat near the Scottish border.

The book starts with a foreword by conservationist Mark Avery before Watson sets down more or less everything known about harriers which, at that time, often consisted of information sent by letter to the author. He also touches on the modern conflict between grouse-shooting interests, which has nearly led to the virtual extinction of the harrier as a breeding bird in England through illegal persecution.
