Product information

Are smaller birds not getting a look-in at your bird table? With the RSPB Adjus-table bird table you can slide the feeding platform up and down the central pole, allowing three different roof heights. You can deter larger birds such as wood pigeons and collared doves if you wish. With its trefoil detailing and gently-sloping roof, plus all the sturdiness of our other bird tables, the Adjus-table is both practical and stylish! The roof is removable for easy cleaning of the feeding platform.

The recycled plastic tray can be removed for easy cleaning and more hygienic feeding.

Windy conditions

If you're worried about strong winds blowing your bird table over, we recommend our Table Stable. It's a cross-shaped base that will attach to the feet of your bird table, extending the footprint making it quite a bit harder to push (or blow!) over the bird table.

The best table we've had
I bought this in January 2020 to keep the food from rats and pigeons. Rats went away and pigeons can't get into the table on the high setting. Jackdaws can but we only have them here in spring so no problem. Very easy to clean. Just lift the top off and the tray out. We have to clean the tray 2 or 3 times a day at the moment due to a high number of starlings and other small birds, so easy cleaning is essential. For our purposes, it's worth every penny.

DON’T!!
Very disappointed with this product. The only large bird it deters are pigeons! Even on the narrowest setting the jackdaws, magpies, crows and rooks can all grab the edge and reach in to the middle. This table doesn’t do what it says it does unfortunately. Nice idea but it doesn’t work. Sadly it was a waste of money.
RSPB response
We are sorry that you were disappointed. We advise on the product page that this is for deterring birds such as wood pigeons and collared doves. It should make things more difficult for corvids too, though we can't exclude them entirely.

Good table but not magpie and pigeon proof
Table is well made, easily adjustable, solid etc but not perfect. Magpies and pigeons have learnt to access the table despite the table being in the most raised of its positions. I do wish the roof would overhang the table, that might help to keep the bigger birds away. Glad I didn’t post this review until after having it for a few months. Had I posted earlier then I would have said it was perfect. I would still recommend it though.

Adjustable bird table
Have had this table for a while. If I use the lower setting I get only pigeons. When using the highest setting we get a lot of small birds. They must feel confident at this as the local hawk can not get in. Good table had no problems with assembly and very sturdy.

More info needed
It is not clear how this is made to stand up. I live in a rather windy spot and need to know before I buy!
RSPB response
Thank you for your query. Four real wood legs provide a solid base for these. A large footprint and low centre of gravity makes tipping unlikely. We also sell a Table Stable, which can be fitted to the legs to make tables even more wind resistant.

Doesn't entirely live up to expectation
The quality of the bird table is good and at the highest setting keeps the seed on it dry, even during days of heavy rain. However, unless it is placed around the very centre larger birds such as jays and magpies can easily help themselves to food, and as I bought the table on the understanding that it would deter larger birds I therefore can't recommend it. Either the design needs to be looked at again or the product information changed to better reflect the fact that the majority of birds can still feed from the table when it is set at the highest level.
RSPB response
Thank you. We are glad that you are happy with the quality and sorry for your disappointment with the adjustable feature. The smallest setting should make the table more difficult for large birds to access and we will pass on your feedback to the product t

Very disapointed
I live in SE London where the numbers of pigeons and parakeets appear to outnumber other birds. My small garden is full of them. I purchased this table because I hoped that by putting it on the smallest setting it would give the small garden birds a chance to eat. Unfortunately it doesn’t. I saw one sparrow on it, but once the pidgeons found it they were straight on the table hoovering up the seed (also purchased from RSPB). The bird table is very decorative, but I didn’t buy it to look at the table, I bought it to look at the birds. An expensive pidgeon feeder. What might work is a wire cage fitted aound the table, but I don’t know where to buy one that would fit and it is just another expense. Why not include one with the table?
RSPB response
Thank you. We are sorry to hear that you have been disappointed by this product. The smallest setting does make it more difficult for larger birds to access, though we do say this is primarily a deterrent. We will pass your feedback to the product team.

reasonable product
We've had this bird table for about 2 years now. It was reasonably easy to put up & seems to be sturdy. We have it on the highest setting because we are plagued by feral & wood pigeons as well as collared doves & magpies. The magpies can & do access the outer edges of the bird table. The doves & wood pigeons do squeeze themselves in to feed from the table. We also have a squirrel who can jump from the fence to the table! other than that, robins, sparrows, dunnocks, blackbirds, tits & thrushes enjoy the bird food every day. I'd say this is a good buy if you want to stop most of the bigger birds depriving the smaller ones of food!

Good quality item, but . . .
This bird table is good quality and I found it easy to put together. Like others, I bought this item with an adjustable tray to try and discourage larger birds and allow smaller birds to feed. The tray is on the highest notch, but pigeons still get in to eat the food. Even a Jackdaw was able to access the tray and food. So, while I would recommend this item as a good quality table, it is not successful at deterring larger birds.
RSPB response
RSPB: Thank you. It's great to hear that you are happy with the quality of this table and that you found it easy to put together. The table does usually exclude large birds on its lowest setting, so we will pass on your comments to the product team.

solid
I have had this table over a year and find it does what it is meant to. I have it on the widest setting as all birds are welcome as I live in the middle of a town. The structure has stood up to high winds, lashing rain, snow and sun with no obvious detriment. Easily cleaned.

Disappointed
Need a table to keep pigeons from taking all the food from other birds
The table has 3 levels. 2 are no good as the pigeons can still get onto the table. The final setting is so low to keep pigeons out but birds like blackbirds and similar sizes can’t mske it.
Good quality but not what was required..
Probably needs a fourth level.
Very disappointed.

Adjustable bird table
Very disappointed. I don't consider magpie and crows as small birds. They feed even when adjusted to smallest opening.
Very difficult to clean as seed goes between plastic tray and wood.

Not quite working
This item was purchased for me xmas 2017. Practically from the start Jackdaws, Wood Pidgeons all delight in the seed I put out for 'the smaller birds' who don't get a look in. I am disappointed considering its name Ajus-table, keep larger birds out.

Nice bird table
I love Starlings, and they will be very welcome to use this well made, high quality bird table. Easy to assemble, looks great.. I just hope it deters the dozen or so white doves that visit daily. Never the less , I'm really pleased with this product...

RSPB response: Thank you for your lovely review, we are pleased to hear how much you enjoy this bird table and that you are also feeding the Starlings!

OK to a point!
My problem is jackdaws scaring the smaller birds and eating all the seed! At first this table worked a treat, but after 4 months the jackdaws and collared doves have worked out how to get seed off the table

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with this table. We are aware of a few reviews regarding larger birds figuring out how to get into the table, and are therefore researching any changes that can be made to the product to prevent this.

Does the job
I have a normal bird table, this adjustable bird table plus feeders in the trees for smaller birds. This bird table certainly keeps the magpies, pigeons and Doves off which is what I wanted it for. Yes the Starlings can get on there but there are no where near as there used to be as they tend to eat off the ground before going to the table. Robins and Blue tits happily use this adjustable bird table. I am very pleased I got it and it was worth the investment.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we are very pleased to hear that the Adjus-table has meant that you can feed the smaller birds without the larger birds taking all the food.

Not up to the job
Starlings can still feed no matter what setting, the food is gone within minutes. Small birds don't get a chance because of the greedy starlings. The only time they give up is when the food is all gone. Don't waste your cash on this product.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry you are unhappy the Adjus-table, however Starlings have suffered a huge decline in recent years and are a red listed species. We would always encourage people to feed starlings if they visit your garden.

OK but...
Like another reviewer said this was a big investment for me as I love to feed the birds but my problems are pigeons and starlings. I was hoping that this bird table would be the answer and all the smaller birds, robins, Bluetits ,finches etc would be able to get a lookin. The pigeons don't stand a chance but the starlings were straight in no hesitation. So a lovely solid and well made table but unfortunately a bit of a waste of money for me as it didn't solve my problem.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry that you are unhappy with this product. Starlings are a red listed species, and their numbers have dropped drastically in the past decades, which is of course a concern. We, as a conservation charity, endorse helping starlings wherever possible.

Good and sturdy
Easy to build and the whole thing is of excellent quality and easy to clean. However, this was a big investment for me as I get loads of pigeons, jackdaws and magpies that clean me out; the pigeons can't get on, but with a struggle the magpies can and the jackdaws do easily, even on the high setting. Am gutted that I spent all this money when it hasn't fixed the problem I bought it for and there was nothing wrong with my old table.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we are pleased to hear that you are impressed with the quality of the table, we do use a UK manufacturer who offers excellent build quality. In regards to the larger birds getting to feed when it is set the highest, we have to say this is very unusual as most large birds cannot use it on the top section, giving up for an easier meal elsewhere. We are going to look into the design to see if there is any amendments we can make to disadvantage the larger birds further.

Great choice
If you want a substantial, well made and easy to assemble bird table look no further. The wood is of a very good quality and well treated with preservative. The instructions are easy to follow and the result looks very smart.

Took a little while for our garden birds to get used to it and on the mid level the pigeons have not been a problem. Yet it is a bit expensive but happy to know I'm supporting such an important cause.

Great Bird Table
Have had he bird table for a few days now, on the middle setting magpies are still able to gain access, so have now put on the top setting.
The birds seem to be getting the hang of it now, although we still have starlings who are able to gain access, but at least the wood pigeons are deterred. the table is extremely well made and I also invested in the squirrel baffle and the reinforced base so everything is o.k. No problem cleaning as the roof can be just lifted off and the tray also, very easy.

Awesome
The pigeons and magpies were constantly eating everything before the smaller birds got a look in......
Not anymore! This table has fixed that problem instantly (although it is funny to watch then trying to figure out how on earth they can access the food!)
Looks great, and is so easy to fill up with food and keep clean, really worth the money.

Very disappointing
Table was put out Wednesday afternoon on the middle setting. Monday morning a crow was happily feeding. Now on top setting, hoping blackbirds can still feed.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. During our testing Blackbirds were certainly happy feeding on the top setting. The middle setting is for people who wish to stop woodpigeons etc but allow slightly smaller birds such as jackdaws or collared doves for example.

Lovely bird table
This is a lovely looking bird table. I bought it because I wanted to prevent larger birds (wood pigeons, magpies etc) from gobbling up all the food before the smaller birds get a look in. So far so good. I've currently got it on the middle setting which provides plenty of room for small birds to feed and so far I haven't seen any large birds land on it. However, they can still feed from the bits that drop off onto the ground so nobody will go hungry.

The table was very easy to assemble using an electric screwdriver although I ended up with about 6 screws leftover so I think too many are provided in the pack. However, I decided to screw these in at various points around the table and have used them to hang feeders from the table. In order to clean the table, you lift off the roof and slide the plastic tray up and off the central pole - very simple.

The table appears sturdy and looks like it will stand up to windy conditions.

Need a power screw driver for assembly
After examining, sorting parts and screws. Then a read through of the instructions it's very logical to assemble. One gotcha is the fitting of the braces. The instructions seem to imply that both braces are fitted at once with the 70mm screw, then use the 30mm screws to attach to the legs. The smaller brace needs to be attached to the legs first before the larger brace is screwed through the smaller brace to the upright. Otherwise it is impossible to screw the smaller brace to the legs.
For one person assembly I strongly recommend a power tool screwdriver. It is rather unwildly otherwise. Even for a two person assembly I would use a power tool for easiness.
Highly recommend this bird table it looks great in the garden, and is easy to adjust for the size of birds you wish to attract.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. Use of an electric screwdriver will be helpful but bear in mind not to over tighten. Pine is a soft wood and if over tightened with a power tool it may affect the purchase for the screw. We are glad you enjoy the product and will review the instructions.
