Christmas is a time for giving, but single-use plastics can also make it a time for waste. This year we've reduced plastic and found sustainable alternatives, so you can find nature-friendly gifts and greetings that will protect natural resources, reduce environmental impact and directly help the wildlife you love.

All our gift wrap is made of FSC® recycled paper. It can be recycled again after use. Tie it up with mixed hemp string (shown, £3.50 for a pack of three colours). Or try the recycled paper gift bags (including a bottle bag) in the Woodland design.

Thanks to a clever redesign, the majority of our calendars are now entirely plastic-free. We have removed cellophane wherever possible. Printed on FSC® certified paper, calendars can be easily recycled after use too.
You won't find plastic boxes in our packs of charity Christmas cards this year. Our 2021 designs are supplied in a cardboard box, or in compostable wrap rather than cellophane. With no glitter (microplastic!) or foil and printed on FSC® certified cardboard, the cards themselves are eco-friendly and fully recyclable.
A tactile selection of eco-friendly materials that suit a range of Christmas decoration themes: Wool felt, ceramic and sustainably sourced wood, all look and feel beautiful. Try the Glass Christmas tree bird decorations by RSPB, £13.99, or the cheerful Wooden robin wreath, £4.99.
One of the easiest changes to make is to move from single-use water bottles to a reusable metal one. These stainless steel bottles keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, thanks to their triple-layer construction. Choose from five exclusive designs including: barn owl, puffin or blue tit, £27.99.
Gift a nest box to any bird lover. All RSPB nest boxes are made from FSC ® certified wood. This ensures that they are sourced from a forest that’s well-managed: from the protection of indigenous people’s rights to the methods of tree felling. Bird homes from £9.99. The world’s largest non-food crop, cotton makes about half of the world’s textiles, but its environmental impacts can be devastating. Its production uses huge volumes of water, draining water habitats around the world. Toxic pesticides contaminate rivers, destroying wildlife and communities. Organic cotton is produced without the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) ensures textiles are produced in an ecological and socially responsible way. £15 each or 2 for £20.
