Even though it is associated with the festive season through the Twelve Days of Christmas carol, this dainty dove has become an increasingly rare sight in the UK. They declined by 93% between 1994 and 2014. Traditionally symbolising peace and goodwill, the turtle dove is one of many species the RSPB is fighting hard to save from extinction.
