Birds of all sizes (from a wren, through blue and great tits, robins, chaffinches, blackbirds and doves to woodpigeons) love this to drink from and to bathe in - I get so much joy watching them. I've had this over a year so it's made it through winter with no ill effect. It's sited on a slate slab to keep it level in the garden. Was hoping to buy another and am sad to see they are currently unavailable.

I was given the shenstone birdbath as a present, and the birds loved it. However when the water froze a large crack appeared which we managed to glue together and it survived the summer but after another hard frost it has cracked again and no longer holds water.

We had had mixed success with this birdbath until we took it off its stand and placed it onto some shaped earth in our border. Now we have daily visits from bird families who either dive in together (sparrows) or wait in turn (blackbirds). So glad we persevered and tried out different locations in the garden.
I’m not sure who gets more enjoyment out of it, the birds taking their dip, or us watching them splash around!

I was impressed that this was made with recycled plastic and that the design included little ridges to help smaller birds. In practice, it's much too light, even when full of water. Strong winds, a pigeon, any mammal will tip it up, so it is of very limited use.

Very happy with my purchase, the birds seem to love it and we get lots of sparrows trying it out!

RSPB encourage us to put water out for birds even during the winter months. This birdbath is alleged to be 'frostproof' but cracked once the temperature dropped below freezing - chocolate fireguard comes to mind as we were not going to go out and bring it in when the temperature dropped. A waste of money especially as we bought two, one for us and one, to give one as a Christmas gift. Very disappointing and embarrassing as we have to warn the recipients of the gift if they haven't already discovered the problem.

This is the second RSPB branded birdbath we have had problems with. The other was a different design but also suffered cracking, managed to repair that one but this will not be as easy.

A roasting tin would have been a lot cheaper and more resilient if less attractive.

Great looking item, but not good for leaving out on a frosty night. Ours has a large crack in the centre following the cold snap this week. Disappointing.

This was a Christmas present and by New Year’s Day it was broken. It was pushed from its plinth by an animal overnight on to grass and the rim is smashed in several places. Very disappointed.

I received the bird bath as a birthday gift and am delighted with it. The only negative I can see is that the base is a different colour to the top and it is very hard to put together. That said it won't come apart in a hurry but it is a bit lop sided, and you don't really see the base once in situ. The positives are it is made from recycled plastics therefore environmentally friendly and appears to be very sturdy. It's a nice stylish design with the added interest of the wording, nice touch to put the whole poem in the box. Comes well packaged. All in all very happy.
