Product information

No more bouncing and swinging bins!

Keep your binoculars safe and secure when you're out and about with this fully adjustable harness system.

The RSPB Bino Harness consists of two arm straps, two binocular straps, and a backplate. The arm straps are large loops with plastic buckles and two hook-shaped plastic clips. The binocular straps are shorter, with plastic buckles and D-shaped plastic rings on the end. To set up the harness:

  • Remove the binocular straps from the backplate by pulling the loose ends of the straps out of the plastic buckles.
  • Once the binocular straps are free, thread the loose ends through the lugs on your binoculars. To secure the connection, push the loose ends back through the plastic buckles and tighten them.
  • You will now be left with a harness consisting of two arm straps and a backplate. Put your arms through the arm straps and pull on the harness like a coat, taking care to ensure the backplate is against your back and that the shiny side is facing outwards.
  • Now that you are wearing the harness, it is time to attach your binocular. Each arm strap has a hook-shaped clip hanging from the front. Each of the binocular straps (which you attached to your binocular in Step 2) have a D-shaped plastic ring on the end. Attach the hook-shaped clips to the D-shaped rings. Your binocular should now hang from the arm straps and rest against your chest.
  • Finally, use the plastic buckles to adjust the length of each strap until comfortable.

Now your RSPB Bino Harness is ready to go!

I give up
I had high hopes for this as I find even my lightweight binoculars seem heavy round my neck. I have spent much of lockdown on my own and later with my u3a group trying to work out how to attach the harness to my binoculars. I have eventually concluded that there is nothing on the binoculars to fasten it to and, without any instructions, I don't think I will even be able to give it away on Freecycle!

An intelligence test
This binocular harness is great once you've figured out how they work. It took three attempts before we managed it. They really need instructions as it's not clear that you need to take the shorter straps off to connect them to your binoculars. It's obvious, once you've figured it out.
Purchased in the sale so still a good deal.

Binocular Harness
I agree with Annie P, no instructions and a puzzle. Not even value for money if you can't assemble.

Confusing!
This arrived with no instructions re how to fit it. It has me stumped! I guess the short narrower straps are for attaching to my bins but I can't work out how to wear it. The photo on this page doesn't help. As I bought it in the sale I will persevere. Wish me luck!
RSPB response

Lady-Friendly??
I ended up here whilst looking for a comfortable binocular strap for my wife. I bought my wife a lovely pair of binoculars but she is complaining that the neckstrap is not very comfortable.
It seems to me, and I can't help thinking that this harness is not particularly designed with Ladies in mind, especially not for ladies who are rather large in the You-know-what-I-mean ""B-department""... any ladies here with experience with this product?

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear this product wasn't suitable for you. We are currently reviewing our Optics accessories range and will definitely take this into consideration when speaking with our supplier.

A welcome relief
Perfect for relieving the strain of heavy binoculars around the neck and I am sure is a health benefit for any neck pain sufferers. Took some sorting but once adjusted perfect in every respect (Be patient!) For our recent holiday this has been an absolute gem and enabled me to walk hands free whilst having binoculars to hand as demand required!

Compact Binoculars
Don't buy this if you have compact binoculars. The strap provided is 12 mms and won't fit the 5mm recess on compact binoculars!
