For extra stability use the supplied ground pegs. You can also fill the base with sand to make the bird bath even more sturdy. Be careful not to over-tighten when assembling the bird bath, as this can lead to cracking.

Birds need water for drinking and bathing. Water is particularly important during the winter when natural supplies may be frozen, and in dry, hot weather during the summer when water can be hard to find.

    Works well
I wasn't sure whether to buy this or not, because of some of the negative reviews. But I'm so pleased now that I bought it. It works a treat.
I ended up positioning it on the patio near some shrubs, rather than my sloping lawn as I couldn't get it level on the grass (but that would be the same for any bird baths).
I think because there are shrubs near by, the sparrows soon took to it. Perfect for them; it's a delight to hear them twittering away and see them splashing about in it.
It's easy to empty and clean, it's not blown over even in windy weather but then I do keep a small rock in it anyway which the birds enjoy perching on.
    It looks good too.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we are pleased to hear how happy you are with your bird bath, and that it has been a success with your birds!

    Disappointing
I bought this bird bath from RSPB a couple of years ago. Although it looked very attractive, it is very prone to bending. I am forever trying to straighten it so the water is level.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear your bird bath is bending. The product should not warp at all. Please can you contact our customer service team as there may be a fault with your bird bath.

    No birds yet!
Been in place now for a couple of weeks, looks great but birds don't seem to like it (previous birdbath used all the time), will try stones and gravel as suggested by Roj and hope for the best!

RSPB response: Thank you for your review. Birds can be apprehensive to new bird baths, even if one has been present previously. It may take a couple of months but hopefully they will be bathing in it soon!

    So Disappointing, such a pity.
I have had this for several weeks in a position where other baths have been, (I have 5 other birdbaths around my garden, 4 stone and 1 metal). I bought this as I had a recent operation and found it difficult to keep the others clean due to their weight. The occasional robin has perched on the edge but otherwise it has been unused.

I dont want to put gravel/stones in as I will find it difficult to keep clean. In my opinion it is far too deep as it is plastic with a very smooth surface.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry you are unhappy with this bird bath. It can take a couple of months for birds to adjust to new birdbaths, even when there have been birdbaths present beforehand, as they are very apprehensive creatures. Hopefully the birds will happily be using the bath shortly!

    Absolutely delighted
I am absolutely delighted with this bird bath. Perhaps the birds in my neck of the woods are more adventurous than those visiting other reviewers' gardens, but they were using it within hours. A robin was the first to give it the once over. In addition I have seen siskins, blue and great tits, greenfinches, goldfinches, chaffinches and wood pigeons drinking and bathing.
The main reason I bought this model is because it is so light and easy to clean as I have had finches apparently suffering from the nasty disease Trichomonosis in the garden. I make sure to change the water daily, something which was difficult with my previous bird bath, a heavy concrete one.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we are very happy that the birds are enjoying the bird bath. It is good to hear that you are able to change the water regularly now as this is very important in helping stop the spread of diseases.

    Be patient!
This bird bath looks lovely in the garden but at first the birds ignored it as highlighted by lots of reviewers. My advice is to be patient, because it took our birds as much as 6 weeks to start using it. We now have Wood Pigeons, Sparrows, Goldfinches, Blue and Great Tits, and today at last a Blackbird. They are naturally suspicious but will take to it eventually. The cold snap may have helped by making other water sources inaccessible, whereas we broke the ice each morning.
Adding different sized stones to change the levels and provide perches seems to be a good idea too.

    Looks fab in the garden
Brought this item when it was on offer, was easy to assemble, it is a little flimsily in windy weather, but because it's hollow we filled the holder with mud and it's very sturdy now, and birds from all sizes love either having a little drink to having a full blown bath,

Love this bird bath - Looks great & excellent value
Very pleased with the look and value for money but so far has only attracted wood pigeons. Having read other reviews I am going to reduce the depth and add some pebbles & gravel.

    Lovely addition to the garden
I was sceptical at first, but yesterday I looked out of my office window to see a bird having a whale of a time bathing and drinking from the bird bath. It took a week, but the wait was worth it.

    Birds ignoring so far
I have had this bird table out for a few weeks now but the birds have ignored it. Have changed position and added stones but still they don't bother. The bird table is nearby, 3-4 meters, this is frequented all day by various birds yet still no interest in bath!

    Amazing
A great value bird bath, we put it up at 8pm and the next morning there were birds happily bathing. We had 8 species in that 1 day. They were robin, starling, blackbird, blue tit, great tit, goldfinch and greenfinch. 5 stars for this.

    Looks good but...
A good looking addition to the garden, easy to assemble, good value and which is now in full use. Earlier reviewers commented on the birds not using theirs and queried the depth. We've had ours for three weeks and the birds virtually ignored it, even though it's where the previous bath stood, the odd sparrow perched on the rim for a sip. They all much prefer a nearby bucket of gravel which has filled with water after the heavy rains. So I've placed three large pebbles and an inch of gravel in the new bath, this makes a sloping 'beach' from one edge which they can hop down and leaves the full depth in the centre. Works a treat! Within hours the black birds were back & spent ages splashing around. After them 6 sparrows dived in all at the same time..quite a show! It's now in regular use by all our resident species. This morning we have twelve sparrows perched all round the rim. So..I'd recommend it but if uptake is slow be prepared to make it a bit shallower and welcoming with an inexpensive addition as above.

    Fab buy!
This bird bath is lovely! Takes 5 seconds to put it together, you just twist each bit in place. It comes with metal pegs which you can use to stabilise it into soft ground if need be; I did not need to use these, even with strong winds blowing. It is a welcome addition to my garden. Cannot wait for my birds to splish splash about in it.
