great in many ways but...

wonderful for small birds and great to get close-ups, but why make it so that a pigeon can get in? Now the pigeons have worked it out, they hoover up the food then make it fall off the window. Please redesign with a smaller gap!

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we understand you frustrations with pigeons being able to access the feeder although it should be reasonably difficult for them. However we also need to make sure that birds have a clear escape route should they feel threatened by predators. Therefore all our window feeders are open to allow easy access. By X, on 29 Jun 2017

Very happy

I bought this a couple of months ago and the birds love it! I had been using the smaller tray but the bigger birds, especially the magpies were muscling in a lot. This one is much better, the birds loved it straight away as I think they feel more secure - it is much more secure. Blackbirds that were timid about the old one use this a lot. All the usual small birds use it a lot. The magpie has now sussed it out so might have to try to think up a cunning way to stop them. Unlike djc below my magpies are perching on the front like everyone else. By JulesA, on 19 Jun 2017

Patience will be rewarded

I was bought this as a gift for Christmas and after waiting several weeks with no little visitors in February I have been rewarded with lots of visiting birds. I placed the feeder to the side of the window slightly behind the curtain so I wouldn't disturb too much if I was moving around inside the house, but I still get a great view.
It took several weeks for the birds to pluck up courage, but they eventually couldn't resist the meal worm and buggy fat treats I put in there along with the sunflower hearts. I have a garden feeder a short distance away and keep that filled with general seed for the bigger birds (and little ones if they so desire) so that they don't get tempted to land on the this feeder.
The robin was the first to arrive, followed by the blue tits and sparrows. The starlings do come now and again but I have hung a buggy fat feeder on the main bird table and most prefer the ease of that.
Absolutely love this item, have now filled my camera up with cute photos!

RSPB response: Thank you for your lovely review, it's great to hear that both you and the birds are enjoying the window feeder! By Little Owl, on 1 May 2017

Product information

Here's a wonderful way to feed and watch wild birds up close. The tough, non-yellowing polycarbonate bird feeder attaches to your window with three strong suction cups and the tray detaches easily from the roof/back section (without removing the suckers) for cleaning and refilling.

Suitable for year-round feeding - and a fabulous gift for anyone.

  • - Great for feeding mealworms, sprinkles, nibbles and bird seed
How to install your window feeder
- Ensure the window is clean and dry.
- Soak the suckers in warm water to make them pliable, then fit them onto the back plate of the feeder.
- Attach the back plate to the window, without the food tray.
- Leave for at least 3 hours before attaching the food tray, to give time for the suckers to settle and achieve maximum adhesion.
- If desired, attach a length of string to the feeder to tether it. This will ensure that the feeder won't fall to the ground if it does come unstuck or is dislodged.
