SuccessfulI bought this for my mum who has very poor sight and can hardly see the birds on the garden feeders. It took about three weeks for the birds to find it, but since then it is frequently used by robins and blackbirds. It has only fallen off once, when two pigeons were on it. It supported them while they fed, but they both took flight at once and - boinggg crash! There has been a herring gull eyeing it up, but so far it hasn't worked out a way to take advantage. Love it!I got this as a gift for Christmas. We have large floor to ceiling windows in our flat and we're surrounded by trees so thought we'd buy one and see if we could tempt them to use the feeder and we could get a birds eye view of them. Weekend mornings now involve filling the feeder and sitting watching Robins, blue tits, great tits, coal tits and nuthatch. Great purchase. By Jules, on 13 Feb 2016
birds not interestedWe have had this on our window for 6 weeks now and never seen a bird come anywhere near it. We have tried different types of food, different positions on the house, different positions on the window ... nothing. Really disappointed. And advice would be much appreciated!
RSPB response: Thank you for your review. As with any new bird feeder it can take some time for birds to pluck up the courage to use this. Birds are naturally nervous and hesitant of new feeders and feeding locations, but over time thy will adapt - as long as quality food is on offer. By sjh, on 7 Feb 2016
Window bird feeder
- Product information
Here's a wonderful way to feed and watch wild birds up close. The tough, non-yellowing polycarbonate bird feeder attaches to your window with three strong suction cups and the tray detaches easily from the roof/back section (without removing the suckers) for cleaning and refilling.
Suitable for year-round feeding - and a fabulous gift for anyone.
Great for feeding mealworms, sprinkles, nibbles and bird seed.
How to install your window feeder
- Ensure the window is clean and dry.
- Soak the suckers in warm water to make them pliable, then fit them onto the back plate of the feeder.
- Attach the back plate to the window, without the food tray.
- Leave for at least 3 hours before attaching the food tray, to give time for the suckers to settle and achieve maximum adhesion.
- If desired, attach a length of string to the feeder to tether it. This will ensure that the feeder won't fall to the ground if it does come unstuck or is dislodged.
