Bird Frenzy when these get put out!I put out a total of 9 fat balls out this morning and between the magpies, jackdaws and starlings they are 2/3rds gone! Definitely the most popular item after the mealworms! I bought an initial box of 150 which were very crumbled but RSPB sent me a replacement this morning and they are perfect. Great customer service. Great quality suet ballsNow, suet isn't very popular with birds in my area, so I just bought a small pack of these along with small samplers of other suet products to test the waters. I must say that these suet balls are very good value for money!
Whilst they aren't hugely popular with my birds, they're clearly high quality suet balls and I know that in other areas, birds will love them. Also I've been running the food stocks down and it's amazing how fast these got eaten where the tray wasn't being regularly topped up with mealworms :).
Consequently, I've ordered a bumper box to keep the suet ball feeder stocked for the near future. A nice "slow burn" food that will ensure there's always something there to eat, even when the dastardly pigeons have polished off everything else not nailed down! By Alex, on 3 May 2016
Mealworm super suet balls
- Product information
New premium recipe with mealworms
These new suet balls are made with our best-selling Super suet, which makes them softer, higher in fat content and a real treat for the birds! They are top quality and provide much-needed energy for your garden birds, as they contain 40% more fat than our standard suet balls, plus mealworm pieces for extra nutrition.
These fat balls are ideal for feeding from a suet ball feeder or loose, whole or crumbled on bird tables and ground feeding tables.
As with all of our Super suet products, they are suitable to feed all year round as they do not smear or melt in the heat and won't go hard in the winter. Each ball weighs approx 90 g.
Contains suet, wheat flour, peanut flour, millet seed, rapeseed, linseed and mealworm pieces.
There are no nets on our suet balls, or any other food we make, because birds and other wildlife can get trapped in them.
Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy this food, though other species may also enjoy it too:
- Blackbird - Blackcap - Blue tit - Great tit - House sparrow - Long-tailed tit - Robin - Starling
Our suet products are specially formulated to make them suitable for year-round feeding. However, if positioned in direct sunlight they may soften or melt in very hot weather. If this is happening, try placing them in a shaded spot instead, or waiting until the weather is cooler.
There are no nets on our suet balls - or any other feed we make - we don't use them because birds and other wildlife can get trapped in them.
