Still the best and most popularExcellent food for our birds who take pieces from our window feeders without competing with the larger birds. We have many new bird families each year who love these buggy nibbles. In winter we cannot put enough out. Great value and a great product. By Sue W, on 20 Nov 2016
All the birds love these
Problem with waterI agree with other recent reviewers. These Buggy Nibbles clog up and go soggy if they get the slightest bit wet. The suppliers say the recipe has not changed, then it needs to be changed!!. It needs harder fat or more flour or more cooking, plus more bugs, - the protein content is now very low. I will now be buying infrequently until the product is improved and only feeding occasionally in a covered feeder.
RSPB response: Thank you for taking time to review this product. Our base mix for these pellets has remained consistent for over ten years and they are one of our most popular foods with the birds. Working with our supplier we have implemented an increased ingredient mixing time, designed to bind the ingredients together better.
The high fat content of this product, although perfect for the birds, does have a tendency to lose consistency when very wet. During very wet weather spells, it is advisable to feed smaller amounts and re-fill more often, rather than leaving exposed for a long period.

Buggy nibbles 12.75kg bumper box
- Product information
12.75 kg bumper box of Buggy nibbles.
Putting our Buggy nibbles out in your garden is like putting hot cakes on the kitchen table: they are a delicacy that few garden birds can resist. Made from a tasty mix of mealworms, premium UK suet and cereal.
Buggy nibbles are a great alternative to peanuts. They can be fed from a wire mesh nut and nibble feeder year-round. As they don't have the choking hazards of whole peanuts, they are also suitable for feeding loose from tables.
Made in the UK from top quality suet, they're a firm favourite with many garden birds.
This bird food is available in the following sizes:
3 kg tub
3 kg refill
12.75 kg box - our best value per kilo
Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy this food, though other species may also enjoy it too:
- Blackbird - Blackcap - Blue tit - Collared dove - Great tit - House sparrow - Long-tailed tit - Robin - Siskin - Song thrush - Starling - Wren
Our suet products are specially formulated to make them suitable for year-round feeding. However, if positioned in direct sunlight they may soften or melt in very hot weather. If this is happening, try placing them in a shaded spot instead, or waiting until the weather is cooler.
