Coconut shell treats are top hit in my London garden
When I bought my first box of coconut shells I thought it would last a year, but a couple of months later we run out. Though we have seeds and suet cakes the shell treats are the top hit with little birds and starlings (coming in groups!), and since last week we have a new visitor, the most handsome looking woodpecker! What a treat in London garden, we were all very excited especially as I have never seen a woodpecker this close. He has visited several times since then heading straight for coconut shells.
Please add the woodpecker to the list of birds which will like the coconut shell treats! By Ewa, on 5 Apr 2013 -

Brought birds into my garden
Living in a suburban area close to a park, there are plenty of bird feeders for the locals to choose from. I have put out seeds and nuts for them to go mouldy or make the sparrows fat. Putting up a couple of these has finally brought birds into my garden. I have had most varieties of garden tits, woodpeckers, crows and even goldcrests feeding from these. By Lurch, on 23 Mar 2013

Our suet products are specially formulated to make them suitable for year-round feeding. However, if positioned in direct sunlight they may soften or melt in very hot weather. If this is happening, try placing them in a shaded spot instead, or waiting until the weather is cooler.
