Good in PartsIntelligent design but not long lasting. I bought two about eighteen months ago and the spring has gone on both. I hung one on an RSPB pole but one squirrel evolved a way of hanging on to the top of the pole with its back legs and lifting the feeder towards itself with its front legs in a way that didn't activate the spring. Why don'tyou employ squirrels as designers- they are much cleverer than us!
RSPB response: Thank you for your review, if only we could use squirrels as designers although I have a feeling they wouldn't want to create squirrel resistant products! On a more serious note we will contact you directly to help with the fault in the squirrel busters you have bought as both going in 18months is not usual.

Squirrels Foiled but Pigeons HappyI've used a mini for a couple of years. Although the squirrels were inventive and persistent, they couldn't ever access the seeds. However, the pigeons learned to cling and hover, thus by-passing the spring mechanism, and helped themselves frequently to seeds. After 2 years, which is the guarantee period, the spring mechanism was not working properly anymore, but you can apparently get spares. By Lil, on 5 Dec 2016
jackdaws love itbought one and it worked so well I bought another for another spot in the garden, it seems to have stopped the squirrels visiting, but jackdaws have discovered that they can land on it while scooping seed out with their beak before the thing closes, if they are quick enough, so a full one will last two days before jackdaws have emptied it. We also have a couple of wood pigeons who wait patiently for blue tits to feed them by chucking seed out from the feeder, I'm not sure what benefit there is to the tits, but it really looks like they are deliberately feeding the pigeons. Squirrel Buster Mini seed feeder
- Product information
A brilliantly designed bird seed feeder that does away with the need for a guardian as an internal weight-activated mechanism covers the feeding ports whenever a squirrel arrives. Mesh construction suits birds that cling or perch.
To ensure the weight mechanism of this feeder can work as designed, please make sure it is positioned at least 2 metres away from any potential jumping-off point, such as a tree, fence, post or wall, and out of squirrels' reach across from any adjacent feeder.
Keeping your bird feeders clean will help keep your birds healthy, happy and coming back for more.
