Birds love them

Bought a small pack when at Leighton Moss as cost was higher than I normally pay. However the balls are solid and do not fall apart as they are pecked at and so last abit longer in the container. It attracted the blackcap to our garden for first time. We have often heard it singing but never seen it feeding in our garden. Always seems to be birds on the balls so I will be buying more soon. Poor and disappointing

Looked good enough with a good percentage of fat, but still hard to the touch, I put on the ground table but nobody really touched it, not even the starlings could get their beak into it. I tried crumbling it (with a lot of force), but it's not popular. I am rather disappointed with the RSPB suet products, and will go back to making it at home, or using other brands. Birds rarely turn their noses up at fat in my garden, so they've had their vote.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the super suet balls. It is surprising to hear that they are hard as they are made to a recipe designed to make them softer and higher in fat than our other suet balls. They should not be too hard for birds to eat so we will pass on your comments to our supplier. By newhere, on 21 Dec 2016

Excellent Product

At first I was a bit sceptical about these suet balls, particularly as they are more expensive than the ones I usually get. Within 3 minutes of putting out some of these balls, a woodpecker arrived and now appears every day for her meals. She visits about six times each day! Apart from the usual blue tits and great tits, I have had increased numbers of robins and chaffinches. Even the goldfinches, bull finches and green finches, which usually just go for the seed mix, are now taking the suet. A cheeky pheasant and two brown hens also mop up the crumbs from the feeder. I am very pleased I decided to get these suet balls.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, it's great to hear the birds are enjoying the super suet balls. Top quality ingredients ensures that they are nutritious, energy providing and a tasty treat for the birds. By Kate, on 27 Aug 2016

Super suet balls

SKU# M406414

from £1.99

Product information

New premium recipe
These new suet balls are made with our best-selling Super suet, which makes them softer, higher in fat content and a real treat for the birds! They are top quality and provide much-needed energy for your garden birds, as they contain 40% more fat than our standard suet balls.

These fat balls are ideal for feeding from a suet ball feeder or loose, whole or crumbled on bird tables and ground feeding tables.

As with all of our Super suet products, they are suitable to feed all year round as they do not smear or melt in the heat and won't go hard in the winter. Each ball weighs approx 90 g.

Contains suet, wheat flour, peanut flour, millet seed, rapeseed and linseed.

There are no nets on our suet balls, or any other food we make, because birds and other wildlife can get trapped in them.

Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy this food, though other species may also enjoy it too:

- Blackbird - Blackcap - Blue tit - Great tit
- House sparrow - Long-tailed tit - Robin - Starling
Advice
Our suet products are specially formulated to make them suitable for year-round feeding. However, if positioned in direct sunlight they may soften or melt in very hot weather. If this is happening, try placing them in a shaded spot instead, or waiting until the weather is cooler.

There are no nets on our suet balls - or any other feed we make - we don't use them because birds and other wildlife can get trapped in them.
