Birds just don't like them!I'm really disappointed, as in the past I've bought cheaper fat balls, some of which the birds loved, some they didn't touch. I was certain that the birds would love these RSPB fat balls, but they've barely been touched. I've tried breaking them up, but that hasn't done any good. I'm very surprised.
RSPB response: Thank you for your review, sorry to hear that the suet balls didn't meet expectations. We make sure our suet ball recipes are the best quality for the birds and they are tested to ensure they are also enjoyed by a variety of bird species. It is indeed very surprising that your birds haven't enjoyed these, it can take birds a while to go to new food so that may be the problem. By Patty M, on 21 Sep 2016
My birdies love them!Having spent a small fortune on seed which ended up in huge piles on the ground, I've finally found a suet ball all my birdies will eat!
I've around 30 sparrows, 3 robins, blue, grey and coal tits who all seem very happy with them :)
The only problem with this is that they love them so much they are currently consuming 6 balls per day - it's always feeding time in my garden, so I'm purchasing my second box in a matter of weeks!
Definitely the birds favourite suet balls of the ones i've purchased and believe me I've tried lots!
RSPB response: Thank you for your review, so pleased you have found a firm favourite for your birds! By Sam, on 16 Sep 2016
- Product information
RSPB suet balls are made with our own unique recipe using premium grade suet, sunflower seeds and cereals. Ideal for feeding from a suet ball feeder or loose, whole or crumbled, on bird tables and ground feeding tables.
Most garden birds will eat many different foods. Here's a quick guide to the birds that particularly enjoy this food, though other species may also enjoy it too:
- Blackbird - Blackcap - Blue tit - Great tit - House sparrow - Long-tailed tit - Robin - Starling
Our suet products are specially formulated to make them suitable for year-round feeding. However, if positioned in direct sunlight they may soften or melt in very hot weather. If this is happening, try placing them in a shaded spot instead, or waiting until the weather is cooler.
There are no nets on our suet balls - or any other feed we make - we don't use them because birds and other wildlife can get trapped in them.
