However in the last week, first my outside pocket zip and then my main pocket zip broke - the slider came away from one side, not while I was trying to close or open the zipper. The pocket in question was full but not particularly tightly packed in both cases. (For example, sandwich box, water bottle, very thin top in the main pocket - I could put my hand in over and above all of these). Luckily I lost nothing, because I realised in time and repacked everything in a way that made it harder for anything to fall out.
Replacing the zips with more durable models might well cost more than buying a replacement bag. But if I buy a replacement, I will make sure it has more reliable zippers first. Cheap zips are always a false economy. I would rather pay more and have a product that lasts. Disappointing.
