Review this product

Adequate but could do with a spotter!

Bought this for our grandaughter. When testing it before giving it to her I found it quite difficult to get a reaonable view but decided it was my inexperience! However, the real bugbear was a lack of a spotting facilityfor the initial lineup with a star or planet. Without this initial positioning it is dificult to see if you are in or out of focus or just not looking at the object!
I bought a spotting viewer and taped it to the body allowing my grandaughter to be delighted at seeing the moon and stars/planets magnified.
So, once set up, it works quite well but is a fiddle to get going for the uninitiated.
lso, for the price, I thought the earlier review criticism rather unwarranted. It does the job for the price.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we are very pleased to hear that you and your granddaughter are enjoying the night sky. With regards to the spotter we will pass on your comments to the product team. By Rozza, on 15 Mar 2017

Star Gazer Telescope

Cheaply built, generally nasty and serious over price. The RSPB ought to be ashamed to put it brand on this piece of plastic and chipboard.

RSPB response: Thank you for your review, we’re sorry that you don’t think our star gazer to be good quality. We work hard to ensure that we can offer the best optics at competitive prices. I can assure you that it is not cheaply built and other than a few plastic fittings which even the top telescopes have it is not made of plastic but metal. It is designed to be lightweight to make it easy portable. It is billed as an entry level telescope so may not have some features higher spec scopes have. By Starblind, on 2 Mar 2016
